Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the maintenance and ongoing development of the technology infrastructure supporting a 911 call and data center. This includes critical components such as desktop systems, servers, applications, databases, and networking equipment. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, organizational capabilities, and strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage a dynamic and multi-faceted IT environment. The Systems Administrator must demonstrate the ability to evaluate complex technical issues and implement practical solutions that address both immediate needs and long-term strategic goals. Operating with a high level of initiative and independence, the incumbent works within broad program guidelines under the general direction of the IT Manager. This position also includes participation in a scheduled on-call rotation to support 24/7 operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer and support the Microsoft application environment, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Respond to and resolve help desk support tickets from users across multiple agencies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Oversee Storage Area Network (SAN) operations, including configuration, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues; proactively identify risks and implement preventative measures to maintain system integrity.
  • Analyze user and system requirements; develop technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and end-user training materials.
  • Administer multiple databases and servers, including management of Active Directory services and VMware virtual infrastructure.
  • Design, implement, and maintain disaster recovery systems for network, data, and telecommunications; develop comprehensive recovery plans for critical infrastructure.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Evaluate, recommend, install, and support hardware and software solutions specific to Emergency Communications Systems.
  • Participate in systems design, including project scoping, timeline development, and implementation planning.
  • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders; demonstrate sound judgment while representing the agency.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal users with diverse levels of IT proficiency to ensure smooth operational continuity.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and configuration of networking hardware including switches, firewalls, VPNs, NAS devices, and wireless access points.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement system enhancement plans.
  • Gather and integrate technology requirements from member agencies to ensure systems meet operational needs.
  • Actively support and embody the mission, vision, and core values of Adcom911.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required to ensure 24/7 system availability and response.
  • Perform additional technology-related tasks and projects as assigned.


Qualifications

POSSESSION OF OR ABILITY TO OBTAIN THE FOLLOWING LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Unrestricted Colorado Identification Card or Passport.
  • CJIS Certification

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible IT experience, including technical support and system administration in a multi-system environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems) is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience working in a Microsoft enterprise environment, including:
    • Windows Server versions 2016 through 2022
    • Windows 10 and 11 operating systems
    • Microsoft Office 365 administration
    • VMware virtualization platforms
    • NetApp storage systems
  • Hands-on experience with public safety software such as Tritech / CentralSquare CAD, or other 911 dispatch systems, is highly desirable.
  • Strong application and database administration experience, with preference for:
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and 2022
  • Familiarity with Cisco network infrastructure and related technologies.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and coordination skills in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience working in public safety, emergency services, or local government IT environments is preferred.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Will be required to attain CJIS clearance upon hire
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check, if required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL Requirements
  • Physical Demands - Regular standing and sitting; requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing; hand/eye coordination for operation of computer keyboard; vision for review and analysis of data and reports; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communication with employees and agencies. This job requires normal hearing and color vision
