ASM International is a global corporation that supplies wafer processing equipment to the leading semiconductor manufacturers, enabling critical technologies like AI, EVs, medical devices, cloud computing, green energy, and more. We are looking for a Director of Global Training, based in the US Region in Phoenix, AZ. ASM is preparing for rapid growth and preparing to move to a new a brand-new facility in Scottsdale, AZ, where we are creating our most advanced state-of-the-art art product development center. This is the heartbeat of our company's innovation!

We are seeking a highly qualified Director of Global Training to lead our Global Training team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the latest cutting-edge technology used for deposition techniques in fabrication of advanced semiconductor devices, hold a PhD, and possess extensive experience in designing and developing world-class training programs. This role requires a deep understanding of evidence-based practices to create impactful and effective training solutions. This role reports to the Corporate VP of Services, Quality, and Global Training.

The key objective of this role is to create a world class training development center capable of developing ASM's internal engineering team to be the leaders in technology development for our industry.

In this role you will:
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring scalability
  • Collaborate with department heads, senior management, technical teams, customers, and other various stakeholders to identify training needs and skills gaps
  • Analyze performance data and feedback to determine training priorities
  • Develop comprehensive training and curricula for both employees and customers, incorporating the latest evidence-based practices
  • Create engaging and interactive training materials, including e-learning modules, workshops and hands-on sessions
  • Oversee the rollout of training programs across global locations
  • Ensure all training materials are accessible and tailored to diverse learning styles and cultural contexts
  • Lead a global team of technical training professionals that facilitate training sessions, both in-person and virtually, ensuring effective knowledge transfer
  • Utilize various instructional techniques to maintain participant engagement and retention
  • Collect and analyze feedback from participants to continuously improve training content and delivery methods
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs
  • Keep abreast of advancements in semiconductor technology, AI, and training methodologies
  • Integrate new technologies and best practices into training programs to maintain their relevance and effectiveness
  • Work closely with R&D, the People Team, and the Talent, Leadership, and Culture COE to align training initiatives with organizational goals
  • Ensure training programs support the company's strategic objectives and enhance overall performance
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment


Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical), Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or another relevant field
  • Proven experience in academia and training program development in a technology-driven environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and leadership abilities
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
  • Proficiency in using project management tools and methodologies
  • Experience with AI technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, and data analytics


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant certifications in AI, machine learning, or instructional design
  • Six Sigma certification
  • Global experience
  • Knowledge of semiconductors
