Pines of Sarasota is currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of the Director of Plant Operations.

The Director of Plant Operations reports directly to the Administrator and is responsible for establishing department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures in alignment with professionally recognized standards and applicable laws and regulations. This role oversees the maintenance, operations, and functionality of seven buildings across our 25-acre campus, which includes an Assisted Living Facility (ALF), Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), childcare facility, and additional structures. The Director ensures a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for all residents, staff, and visitors, while upholding strict compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:
  • Provides management and evaluation of subordinate managers and staff to assure proper delegation and follow-up of the organization's performance standards.
  • Develops and manages an annual budget to allocate appropriate financial and other resources.
  • Establishes an effective preventive maintenance program and a priority system for unscheduled maintenance.
  • Supervises certain maintenance and construction contractors to assure that work is completed in accordance with contracts.
  • Regularly inspects the campus facilities to assure that the physical plant, grounds, and equipment are properly maintained and that all hazards are identified and remedied.
  • Chairs the Safety Committee and conducts monthly meetings to assure that all practices meet the stated safety goals and policies.
  • Manage resident transportation services and plant/property security services.
  • As a member of senior management, participates in setting overall company goals and practices.


Requirements

The ideal Director of Plant Operations will meet the following requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Possession of a Certified Life Safety Specialist (CLSS) designation or equivalent experience and knowledge in life safety standards and compliance.
  • Must have a minimum of five years of supervisory experience in a maintenance/plant-related position, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Must be knowledgeable of boiler, compressor and generator operation as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Must be knowledgeable of local building codes and AHCA architectural standards.
