Summary
King County Superior Court is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Juvenile Services Social Worker position. The Court is one of the nation's largest trial courts, serving the country's 12th most populous county. Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, King County Superior Court is nationally recognized for innovation. The court's mission is to serve the public by ensuring justice through accessible and effective forums for the fair, understandable, and timely resolution of legal matters.
The responsibilities of this classification include providing professional social work services to youth and families referred by juvenile court and/or the community. The incumbent assesses family safety issues and psychosocial needs and identify other needed services. The incumbent provides direct counseling services, crisis intervention, safety planning and coordinates with other public services and resources to meet client needs. The incumbent will facilitate weekly parent-teen groups at least one evening per week. Performance of duties may be autonomous and self-directed or delivered as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Work location: This position is primarily located at the Patricia Clark Children and Family Justice Center, 1211 East Alder Street, Seattle, WA. The incumbent may be required to work at any of the King County Superior Court facilities as assigned.
Work schedule and terms: This full-time position is hourly (overtime-eligible) and subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The incumbent will work 40 hours per week. The workweek is normally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Variations from these hours may occur.

Job Duties
Primary job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conduct comprehensive, culturally sensitive psycho-social assessments.
Collaborate with Juvenile Probation and other program staff to facilitate, negotiate and coordinate agreements and program services for youth and their families.
Assess and develop plan for safety and coordinate services with appropriate Juvenile Court staff and community resources; document interventions and maintain clear written records.
Provide counseling and crisis intervention service to clients and their families.
Facilitate weekly parent-teen skill-building group specific to family violence prevention curriculum at least one evening per week.
Facilitate dialog between youth and parent/guardian. Provide conflict mediation.
Provide information and education about health/mental health issues to individual clients and to groups.
Provide social work consultation and training to community providers.
Maintain a broad working knowledge of community social and health care services.
Serve as liaison and represent Superior Court to community groups.
May attend court hearings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
A master's degree in social work, psychology, behavioral health, marriage and family therapy, or counseling from an accredited university; and two years' experience in related field.
Experience in case management and general knowledge in family dynamics, counseling, evaluation and assessment techniques. Experience working with the needs of youth including knowledge of mental illness, domestic violence, substance abuse, developmental disabilities and/or other areas relevant to the needs of children and families. Knowledge of professional social work principles, methodology and ethics. Knowledge of the use of therapeutic relationship to foster client self-determination. Knowledge of human psycho-social development within the context of the family, community and culture. Knowledge of techniques for facilitating client motivation to change behavior problems. Knowledge of health and social issues impacting client and community well-being.
Working knowledge of the court system, including roles and responsibilities of court departments and related agency key players. Knowledge of community resources for children and families; work with diverse populations and cultural competency training. Knowledge of/experience with facilitating family violence groups preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office and other computer software applications required.
