About the Position:
K-6 Reading Interventionist Itinerant elementary positions of various FTE. A total of 2.0 FTE is currently available. School locations yet to be determined. Will work predominantly with 4-6 grade students, but may work with K-3 students depending on need.
K-6 Reading Interventionists work directly with students, teachers, and Title I/LAP program staff to provide intervention and expertise in literacy.
The Reading Interventionist role includes delivering small group, structured literacy intervention using district provided curriculum, coordinating literacy assessments for students specified in the district assessment plan, analyzing and reporting assessment data, organizing and scheduling intervention groups, monitoring student progress, and on-going communication with classroom teachers and families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Required Qualifications:
Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Reading OR an Early Childhood, Elementary or Secondary endorsement with experience teaching in a structured literacy program or providing intervention support to students needing extra support in literacy. Preference will be given to candidates that are Bilingual. LETRS training offered by the Title/LAP Department is required unless already completed. Training will need to be completed within the first year of employment.

Salary:
2024-25 Salary Schedule Range: $80,136 through $143,159. Placement on this salary schedule is determined by FTE and official documentation verifying Educational Level and Certificated Work Experience and will be prorated for less than a full year and/or FTE.

- Coordinate, manage, schedule, and provide targeted reading intervention to meet the needs of students.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to identify best practices for individual and small groups of students.
- Follow district guidelines for reading intervention and use adopted reading intervention curriculum.
- Coordinate literacy screening tool and related progress monitoring plan.
- Identify students eligible for intervention using district Decision Rules.
- Assist student support team and MTSS teams in analyzing and interpreting assessment data.
- Conduct frequent progress monitoring with designated district screeners and diagnostic assessments.
- Maintain data-based documentation to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
- Provide regular communication with teachers, administration, and families regarding student reading progress.
- Attend required literacy intervention training, district job-alike meetings, and staff meetings.
- Ability to drive to various school sites, as needed.

- Eligibility for health insurance is based on whether the employee is anticipated to be compensated at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31). For the 2023-24 school year a .5 FTE continuing contract position will meet that eligibility threshold. Eligibility for a non-continuing contract position will be determined at the time of hire by counting the total anticipated compensated hours from the date of hire through the end of the non-continuing contract. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Long-term Disability, Life and AD+D Insurance and options for HSA, FSA and DCAP.
- Eligibility for retirement is based on whether the employee is anticipated to work at least 70 hours per month for 5 months during the school year. For the 2023-24 school year a .6 FTE (either continuing or non-continuing) meets that eligibility threshold.
