Kansas Legislative Chief Information Technology Officer
The Kansas Legislature through the Legislative Coordinating Council (Legislative Leadership) is seeking a Legislative Chief Information Technology Officer. This nonpartisan unclassified position serves the Kansas Legislature, as well as, all the nonpartisan legislative staff agencies, to carry out their information technology related responsibilities. The position is under the direction of the Legislative Coordinating Council and will be supervised by the Director of Legislative Administrative Services and accept assignments and direction from the Director and the Legislative Coordinating Council.

Kansas Legislative Chief Information Technology Officer
The Kansas Legislature through the Legislative Coordinating Council (Legislative Leadership) is seeking a Legislative Chief Information Technology Officer. This nonpartisan unclassified position serves the Kansas Legislature, as well as, all the nonpartisan legislative staff agencies, to carry out their information technology related responsibilities. The position is under the direction of the Legislative Coordinating Council and will be supervised by the Director of Legislative Administrative Services and accept assignments and direction from the Director and the Legislative Coordinating Council.
Managerial leadership responsibilities will include a proven ability to:
- Motivate information technology staff;
- Manage information technology operations and administration;
- Manage major information technology projects and systems;
- Ensure information technology security and confidentiality.
- Make reports and presentations to leadership, committees, and IT department as needed.
- Senior level experience supporting multiple infrastructure systems;
- Ability to motivate a high-performance information technology division;
- Experience in supporting diverse information technology users;
- Ability to support the existing information technology staff in legislative agencies to achieve agency-specific IT objectives
- Considerable experience in project management, with preferred project manager certification;
- Experience in enterprise information technology strategic planning, administration, best practices and support;
- Significant experience in long-range information technology planning;
- Experience in building and recommending information technology budgets;
- Experience making policy and administrative recommendations to supervising officers
- Experience reviewing and negotiating IT contracts with third party vendors
- A dedication to customer service, often providing services under very short time constraints;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- The ability to receive a Kansas Bureau of Investigation security clearance; and
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, public administration or a related field.
