Description:
Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Manager, Microbiology to join our team in Dublin, OH. This position will be responsible for overseeing the operations and administration of the clinical laboratory testing for the Microbiology laboratory. The Laboratory Manager will create, implement, and manage the policies, procedures and practices for optimal performance of the microbiology laboratory. Work Schedule: 1st shift Monday- Friday 8am - 4:30 pm

Job Responsibilities
- Provide oversight of daily microbiology laboratory functions including bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, molecular microbiology and virology.
- Assist with developing and implementing laboratory procedures and installation of equipment and methods
- Manage staff including including hiring of qualified employees, performance management, training, mentorship and development
- Collaborate with Technical directors and technical specialists to validate and implement new assays and technologies.
- Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives and monitor quality control and proficiency testing performance.
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and support cross-functional process improvements.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to leadership.
- Ensure laboratory is compliant with corporate, state and federal regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, State, ISO, etc) related to personnel safety and quality, accuracy and timeliness of laboratory testing as well as professional conduct
- Maintain a state of readiness for inspections and audits from accrediting and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures in alignment with current regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Ensure documentation, competency assessments, and continuing education are maintained for all personnel.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison for internal and external clients regarding microbiology-related services and test offerings.
- Resolve client inquiries and operational issues in a timely manner by consulting with the Medical Director, Technical Director, QA, managers, discipline directors, laboratory directors or corporate operations
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives, including new test development, business development opportunities, and operational scaling.
- Support client onboarding, issue resolution, and ensure delivery of high-quality service aligned with client expectations.
- Ensure effective communication with leadership, clients, sales, corporate operations and all departmental staff
- Conduct departmental meetings and ensure appropriate departmental communication
- Investigate deviations from established procedures to ensure effective corrective action
- Maintain technical knowledge in the assigned department(s) for the laboratory testing
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical diagnostics laboratory
- 3+ year of prior supervisor experience managing several direct reports
- ASCP/AMT certification is preferred
- Experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
- Strong technical knowledge across multiple testing disciplines is preferred
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees
- Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision
- Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
