Direct Counsel is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate to join a highly regarded law firm in Los Angeles. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a sophisticated client base and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic practice. The firm represents national and multinational companies across various industries, providing strategic counsel and litigation defense in complex employment matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent employers in a broad range of employment litigation matters, including wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims.
- Handle all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses, conducting depositions and witness interviews, and preparing cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop case strategy and risk management approaches.
- Provide employment counseling and compliance advice to corporate clients on workplace policies, employee handbooks, hiring and termination procedures, wage and hour laws, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Stay up to date on California and federal labor laws, ensuring clients remain compliant with evolving regulations.
- J.D. from an accredited law school, Class of 2018-2020.
- 4-6 years of experience in employment litigation, including substantive motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Admission to the State Bar of California (mandatory).
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal arguments effectively.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
- Candidates with a commercial litigation background who have a demonstrated interest in labor and employment law will also be considered.

- Base salary: $250,000 - $300,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
