Job Title: Histology Technician
Job Specialty: Histology Tech
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night 5x8-Hour (03:00 - 11:30)
Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours guaranteed
Experience: 3 years required
License: Valid State License required (pending license not accepted)
Certifications: ASCP-HT required (ASCP-HTL preferred)
Must-Have:
- COVID-19 Vaccine required (Medical/Religious exemptions only)
- Flu vaccine required from 10/31 to 3/31 (Medical/Religious exemptions only)
- Two references from authority figures (Managers, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) within the last year
- Valid State License required at the time of submission
Job Description:
- Responsible for processing and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by pathologist
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and procedures
- Perform embedding, microtomy, staining, and cover slipping of tissue slides
- Ensure quality control and accuracy of histology laboratory procedures
- Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any issues that arise
- Collaborate effectively with pathologists and laboratory staff
- Ensure timely and efficient processing of specimens
- Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Open to block scheduling, subject to unit needs
- No on-call or weekend requirements
- Must have finalized time-off requests included upon submission, as changes will not be accepted post-offer
