As a Labs Systems Engineer in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you'll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better.
***This is a hybrid role based in Lake County, IL***
The AbbVie Quality Labs BTS team is dedicated to accelerating the Integrated Digital Lab of the future through establishing innovative solutions and harnessing the power of digital data to optimize lab efficiencies and quality. This role is responsible for technology enablement relating to Lab Execution Systems (LES) and Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) for all AbbVie QA labs. A successful candidate will establish development standards, develop re-usable submethods and drive acceleration through parent method authoring. This role works closely with QA Labs Business Owners, Manufacturing Sites and the broader BTS organization to conduct advanced business analysis, evaluation, ideation and development of a robust solutions portfolio to meet the needs at the intersection at Global Labs Business and evolving technology.

Responsibilities
- Develops and promotes business cases for key projects. Responsible for design and development of digital test methods within the Sample Manager 21 platform. He/she is expected to work effectively across various IT shared services teams, manufacturing site representatives, and QA Labs business stakeholders.
- Ensures re-usability of developed sub-methods and streamlines approach for lab notebook configuration to meet the needs of the business.
- Collaborate with other delivery teams and solution vendors to minimize production issues, ensure continuity of business solutions, assure alignment with architecture & technology standards, and ability of product to scale to meet AbbVie requirements.
- Communicates and educates the technical and business communities on current technologies and industry trends.
- Identify current and emerging business needs and evaluate technology solutions to balance short term and long-term objectives. Understands both data and technology capabilities already in use across AbbVie and recommend appropriate solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree plus 5 years technical experience, or Master's degree plus 4 years' experience.
- A strong knowledge of cGMP and regulatory requirements relating to the pharmaceutical industry is required for this role.
- The position requires a high level of both personnel and time management skills to effectively deliver and execute technical solutions in line with all quality, safety, environmental and operational requirements.
- Experience of operating in a team environment with active participation in proactive improvement programs is required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are required for the execution of this role.
- Strong interpersonal skills are required including ability to build consensus and collaborate.
- Strong understanding of LIMS systems with experience deploying & configuring (preferably SampleManager)
- Other Lab Systems experience is expected (ELN, CDS, Inventory/Asset Management).

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
