Definition:Under general supervision from the Culture Director, the Cultural Art Teacherprovides an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for artist expression by learning about O'odham Piipaash art history, its application to present day art and creating works of art that reflect O'odham Piipaash culture and traditions. The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing an instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students and results in artist achievement in accordance

Education and experience: Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university. Must hold current valid Arizona teaching certificate, with required endorsement(s) and/or approved area(s) for subject(s)/level(s) assigned.
Driving Requirement:This job description does not require the incumbent to drive; however, any employee who chooses or is asked to drive an SRPMIC vehicle for work related community business must receive written annual authorization to do so. For clarification, work related community business includes driving to and from SRPMIC government sites and buildings.
Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.
Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
Special Requirements
Terms of Employment: This position is treated as a full-time exempt position scheduled for 40 hours per week.
Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test and extensive Fingerprint and Background Check. Employee is Subject to Random Drug Testing and completion of a Background Check every five (5) years.

- Plans, prepares and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences; monitors and adjusts as required.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to meet the needs of each student and ensure growth.
- Provides individualized and small group instruction as appropriate to enhance the learning process.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Uses a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, student-to-student discourse, lecture, and discovery to meet students' varying needs.
- Creates an effective learning environment. Uses relevant art media, supplies and technology to support Cultural art instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve effective learning in the classroom.
- Observes and evaluates students' performance and development; provide appropriate and timely feedback on work.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
- Updates all necessary records accurately, completely and in a timely fashion as required by laws, board policies and school regulations.
- Prepares required reports on students and activities.
- Communicates necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents/guardians regarding students' progress and students' needs.
- Identifies students' needs and collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Maintains professional effectiveness through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Supervises students in and out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Administers and monitors assessments in accordance with district testing program.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

- Must be Highly Qualified in accordance with Federal No Child Left Behind law and regulations and Arizona Department of Education law and regulations.
- At least (1) one year of student teaching and/or approved internship.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards; Arizona State Academic Standards; Arizona Visual Arts Standards.
