Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to join our Agile team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of full-time business experience, with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on Scrum experience. As a Scrum Master, you will be responsible for coaching and supporting Agile Squads to ensure they apply Scrum principles effectively, promoting growth and high performance within the team. You will be a servant leader, facilitating Scrum events, removing obstacles, and driving continuous improvement within the squad.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scrum Coaching & Facilitation: Work with Agile Squads to ensure they understand and apply Agile and Scrum values and principles. Facilitate Scrum events (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Retrospective, and Backlog Refinement) and ensure the team derives value from them.
  • Team Development: Promote the growth of every team member, providing coaching and support to enhance self-organization, continuous improvement, and cross-functionality.
  • Problem Solving & Guidance: Use observation skills to identify needs within the squad and intervene with tailored solutions. Leverage powerful questions and effective facilitation to promote problem identification and resolution within the team.
  • Agility & Servant Leadership: Lead by example with a servant leadership approach, embodying agility in your actions and guiding the squad in applying the Scrum Framework.
  • Collaboration & Trust Building: Build and maintain a trusting environment where team members feel comfortable discussing problems and collaborating on solutions.
  • Coaching the Product Owner: Coach the Product Owner and Development Team in effective Product Backlog management, ensuring the team has a common understanding of deliverables, goals, and success criteria.
  • Encourage Self-Organization & Problem Solving: Guide the squad in self-organization, conflict resolution, and risk identification. Encourage the team to solve their own problems and embrace an Agile mindset.
  • Broader Agile Coaching: Coach others in the organization on Agile practices and the impact of actions on the team's self-organization and performance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote continuous learning and improvement by leveraging feedback loops, metrics, and inspect-and-adapt practices. Identify opportunities for improvement across the organization, utilizing knowledge of DevOps, pipeline automation, testing frameworks, and other relevant technologies.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage risks to ensure the team operates within the Bank's risk appetite and achieves results while driving positive customer experiences.

Required Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of full-time business experience and 3 years of hands-on Scrum experience.
  • Deep understanding of the Scrum Framework and principles of agility.
  • Proven experience in building high-performing teams that utilize inspect and adapt loops for continuous learning and improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Ability to facilitate, mentor, and teach at multiple levels within the organization, particularly within team environments.
  • Collaborative mindset, valuing team success over individual success.
  • Knowledge of software lifecycle development disciplines (e.g., Project Management, Quality Assurance, Testing, Deployment, Configuration & Change Management).
  • Working knowledge of practices that support agility (e.g., Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Test-Driven Development, Automated Test-Driven Development).
  • Experience with other Agile frameworks (e.g., Kanban, Scrumban, XP) and ways of working.
  • Understanding of prioritization and goal-setting within an Agile business environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with emotional intelligence and team dynamics, and the ability to listen actively for both self and team improvement.
  • Knowledge and experience with other Agile frameworks and techniques like Mob Programming.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, including pipeline automation and testing frameworks.

Certifications

Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification is preferred, though not required.
