About the position:
Reporting to the Environmental Manager for copper operations in the North America and Philippines region (NACAP), you will have the delegated responsibility for the safety of tailings sites and dams, as well as for coordination with operations, the environment, engineering, projects, the designated engineer and independent reviews in order to implement best practices.
More specifically, your responsibilities will be to:
- Monitor operations and work at tailings sites to validate compliance with Glencore's Tailings Management Standard and TSM;
- Develop tools, procedures, etc. to improve performance;
- Implement actions identified during internal and external audits;
- Coordinate data collection to create an internal database in ArcGIS;
- Make regular visits to the tailings facilities when work is in progress;
- Review consultants' reports;
- Gather and present information in the form of reports and presentations.
Do you have what it takes?
You have a university degree in geotechnical engineering or other mining discipline combined with ten years' experience in tailings and dike management.
You have excellent analytical and synthesis skills, and are highly autonomous.
You're organized and a team player.
You are bilingual and have excellent writing skills.
You are familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency with ArcGIS is an asset.
