Job Description
As a Lead Backup and Storage Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and management of cloud and on-premises infrastructure solutions, leveraging your expertise to drive innovation and excellence. You will demonstrate leadership and drive engineering excellence within your team and influence the same across the Technology & Data department. You will also help orchestrate the optimization, security, cost effectiveness and scalability of backup and storage environments, helping to shape the organization's digital transformation journey.

Job Description
As a Lead Backup and Storage Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and management of cloud and on-premises infrastructure solutions, leveraging your expertise to drive innovation and excellence. You will demonstrate leadership and drive engineering excellence within your team and influence the same across the Technology & Data department. You will also help orchestrate the optimization, security, cost effectiveness and scalability of backup and storage environments, helping to shape the organization's digital transformation journey.
- Lead the design and architecture of backup and storage infrastructure solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements, scalability, and reliability.
- Lead Cyber Recovery and Disaster Recovery Solutions, lead audit and risk assessment investigations.
- Provide guidance to a team of cloud and infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement within the team and influence similar improvements across teams, providing technical leadership and coaching
- Oversee the management and administration of backup and storage platforms, including provisioning and configuration of services, monitoring, optimization, and implementation of security controls and compliance standards.
- Provide L3-level support for storage systems, data backup and hypervisors in hybrid environments. Ensure data availability and integrity for disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Manage appropriately sized engineering projects from inception to completion, including planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and risk management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand business requirements and drive alignment with organizational goals.
- Monitor the performance and health of storage and backup infrastructure, identify areas for optimization and improvement, and implement measures to enhance scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of storage and backup architectures, configurations, and procedures, and promote knowledge sharing within the team and across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science).
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience with NetApp storage solutions, including NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO) and Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP, as well as Commvault Backup.
- Working knowledge of VMware, Linux/Windows operating systems, Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service), and EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud)
- Proven experience with Azure and AWS backup solutions in enterprise environments.
- Strong background in backup and storage engineering, with expertise in data protection best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and provide technical mentorship to junior team members.
- Experience implementing and maintaining data governance policies for platforms such as VMware, databases, and cloud compute environments-including data classification, retention, and disposal strategies.
- Expertise in Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, including defining Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), conducting DR drills, and implementing site-to-site replication.
- Proficient in designing and managing enterprise backup architectures (e.g., incremental-forever, synthetic full, deduplication-based backups) to ensure data availability and integrity.
- Solid hands-on experience with storage services across major cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure.
- Certifications such as NetApp NCDA/NCIE, Commvault Certified Professional/Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, and credentials in Windows, Linux, and VMware are strong assets.
