Role Overview:
Beehive Industries is looking for an energetic and driven Lead Engineer to lead various component rigs and engine tests to validate the overall design. This role will partner with all engineering functions, supply chain, EHS and various cross-functional leadership on a daily basis to develop test strategies and deliver test results which enable the team to validate the engine design.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the operation and execution of gas turbine development component tests and/or engine tests including integration of various sub-systems such as air, fuel, electrical, cooling, data acquisition, emergency protection, security, etc. with the test article to ensure a successful outcome
Lead overall test charter including requirements, schedules, budgets, test operations, risk management, hardware and instrumentation procurement. Lead processes to capture test data, visualize, store, and post-process the data to learn and iterate on new product configurations.
Support component and/or engine assembly, disassembly, repair, prep for test, installation of instrumentation, and post-test processing
Create test procedures for engine and facility operation, troubleshooting electrical and/or instrumentation related issues, and support creating work instructions for assembly/disassembly of engine hardware and test enabling hardware
Design, construction, and operation of mechanical and electrical systems required to support testing, data acquisition and data processing, and the development of test software
Support design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, controls, and system analysis to develop appropriate test systems
Design and/or procure mechanical and electrical equipment necessary to support engine assembly/disassembly and test activities, including test enabling hardware
Execute major maintenance plans and capital improvements of test stand
Provide technical direction and daily task coordination, cross functional team leadership, subsystem troubleshooting, and test stand direction.
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments. Lead root cause and corrective action plans based on learnings to drive process improvements and document best practices.
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices
Work with suppliers to procure hardware, software, and resolve producibility and quality issues
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
At least 10 years of experience in aerospace, aviation, and/or gas turbine testing
Strong understanding of test related software tools including Matlab, Python, Excel, JMP, and Labview.
Experience working with gas turbines for aviation product applications from a test perspective.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams through complex test campaigns with new technologies
Passion for working in new technology testing environments, delivering results, and communicating those results to influence critical design and/or business decisions
Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills
Proven self-starter and quick learner who can work in fast-paced cross-functional teams.
