Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Lead Engineer position is a critical role within our organization. This individual will be responsible for supervising engineering and drafting departments equipped with the AUTOCAD drafting system. As a key team member, you will be involved in the engineering and development of new equipment and systems, including equipment maintenance procedures, cost estimating, and configuration management procedures. Your role will also involve developing and reviewing engineering documents, 3D models and simulations, calculations, technical manuals, and drawings. We seek a candidate with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and comprehensive understanding of marine-related engineering. Major Activities Performed:

- Supervise engineering and drafting departments equipped with the AUTOCAD drafting system.
- Oversee the engineering and development of new equipment and systems, including equipment maintenance procedures, cost estimating, and configuration management procedures.
- Develop and review engineering documents, 3D models and simulations, calculations, technical manuals, and drawings.
- Convey engineering-related technical details with clarity and precision to engineers and non-engineers alike.
- Manage salvage hydraulics, wire rope, synthetic line, and pumping systems.
- Participate in pollution control operations and/or engineering.
- Provide practical, "hands-on" engineering in the field, including exposure to marine rigging, vessel operations, and related disciplines.
- Ensure safe procedures for the handling and transfer of volatile products with thorough knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of oil.
- Control and handle hazardous materials with an in-depth understanding of the behavior of oil on water, including the theory and practice of oil containment and recovery under various environmental conditions.

Minimum:

- Must hold or be eligible for DoD personal security clearance at the 'SECRET' level.
- Undergraduate degree or higher in Civil or Mechanical engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer license in the State of Virginia, or transferable.
- 15 years of experience as a practicing engineer.
- 12 years of experience in marine-related engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise engineering and drafting departments equipped with the AUTOCAD drafting system.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering and development of new equipment and systems, including familiarity with equipment maintenance procedures, cost estimating, modification of existing equipment, and configuration management procedures.
- Experience developing and reviewing engineering documents, 3D models and simulations, calculations, technical manuals, and drawings with subsequent document and planning generation.
- Ability to convey engineering-related technical details with clarity and precision to engineers and non-engineers alike.
- Demonstrated experience with salvage hydraulics, wire rope, synthetic line, and pumping systems.
- Experience in pollution control operations and/or engineering preferred.
- Practical engineering experience in the field, including exposure to marine rigging, vessel operations, and related disciplines.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of oil, with emphasis on safe procedures for the handling and transfer of volatile products.
- Knowledge and experience with hazardous materials control and handling, with an in-depth understanding of the behavior of oil on water, including the theory and practice of oil containment and recovery under various environmental conditions.
