Description:
FEI Systems is seeking a highly skilled and motivated lead enterprise monitoring engineer responsible for delivering and supporting network, system, application, service and business activity monitoring solutions. This position includes the deployment, support, and management of the tools FEI uses to monitor the network, systems, and applications across the entire lifecycle, as well as leading the enterprise monitoring and service management team. This individual will work with team members and stakeholders to gather monitoring requirements and deliver solutions utilizing the enterprise monitoring toolset. He or she should be capable of working both independently and with the team. This is a key position providing stakeholders including senior level management and external customers visibility into the health of their environments.

Principal Responsibilities:
- Implementation, support, and management of the enterprise monitoring tools
- Design and strategy of monitoring the infrastructure as a whole and all enterprise applications across the entire lifecycle
- Lead the enterprise monitoring and service management team
- Provide subject matter expertise in the area of Systems, Application, and Network performance monitoring and management
- Provide top-down monitoring strategy for enterprise service visibility that includes Cloud and On-Prem environments
- Monitor infrastructure and application performance and usage to determine need to enhance capacity (CPU, memory, disk, etc.) to improve the systems based on operational needs
- Provide server and application performance real time and historic reports for analysis
- Work with multiple teams and stakeholders to determine best monitoring approach of systems and applications
- Lead discussions for redesign and implementation of the monitoring environment to modernize with latest trends
- Coordinate between support and development teams to ensure effective delivery of monitoring for all services and applications
- Stay up to date with the latest monitoring technology and trends
- Defines, implements, and maintains system configuration standards
- Provide night time and weekend maintenance and production support, as needed
- Responsible for some communication with vendor support
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Provides mentoring and leadership to junior engineers
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- At least 8 years of Information Technology experience
- A minimum of 6 years of experience providing system and application monitoring in a large enterprise environment
- Previous experience leading enterprise monitoring teams
- Solid understanding of applications, network architectures, monitoring, and fault management
- Strong experience with Windows, Unix, and Linux systems
- Experience with cloud based monitoring platforms such as Datadog and LogicMonitor
- Experience in monitoring services in AWS and Azure
- Understanding of Microsoft technologies including but not limited to AD, DNS, DHCP, VPN, RDP
- Has excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution and proactive monitoring skills
- PowerShell scripting knowledge
- In depth understanding of server and application performance analysis and tune-up
- Understanding of ITIL
- Available after hours as needed for production support issues or planned system migration/upgrade
- Able to be On-Call, respond, and act on critical alerts during business hours and after business hours
- Excellent organizational skills, highly motivated and a self-driven work ethic
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for the system documentation
- Excellent time management, problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple activities
- Understanding of HIPAA and FISMA Security Policies and Procedures
- Ability to work in a team environment with little guidance and supervision
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- College degree (BS or MS) in Computer Science or related discipline
- Experience with automation and Ansible
- Experience with SolarWinds and SCOM
- ITIL Foundations certification
