We are currently seeking a Lead Pipe Estimator (Vendor Process Management) to join our team based in Houston, TX.
About the Job:
Work independently to prepare professional services cost estimates, estimates that include professional services and proprietary equipment, and small, medium, and large Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) estimates in the energy industry. Lead a team of estimators to produce a small to medium size EPC estimate. Often work independently on estimates for small to medium size projects. Work under general supervision to prepare a specific component of a large to mega Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) estimate. Typical project types include Engineering Studies, Process Design Packages (PDP), Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Basic Design Packages (BDP), Detailed Engineering & Procurement (EP), and Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) efforts. Responsible for the schedule and work hours spent to complete estimates when acting as the estimate lead. Occasionally mentor estimators directly and indirectly. Assist in development of department improvement initiatives such as historical data, tools, and template development. Review and explain work products with project and department managers. Lead estimate reviews for small, medium, and large projects with department and company management. Occasionally participate in company executive management reviews for large and very large (mega) projects. Lead client estimate reviews for small, medium, and large projects.

- Self-motivated and detail oriented professional
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under time pressure
- Good analytical, organizational, communication, and presentation skills
- Advanced skills with MS Excel software
- Advanced skills with MS PowerPoint software
- Significant experience with Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE) software
- Experience with benchmarking and indexing ACCE database
- Experience with in-house or third-party estimating software
- Exposure to work process for key departments providing estimate input (construction, subcontracts, procurement, engineering, finance, insurance, tax, logistics, human resources, etc.)
- Experience leading a team of estimating professionals
- Experience working on AACE Class 4 and 5 (Factored and Order of Magnitude) estimates
- Experience working on AACE Class 1,2, and 3 Detailed estimates
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree
- Experience functioning as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more estimating disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, professional services)
Nice to Have Skills:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- Experience with multi-office execution and module fabrication yard execution
- Experience working on a field construction site or in a module yard fabrication facility
- Demonstrated leadership and / or management experience
- Working knowledge of MS Access software
- Working knowledge of MS Power BI software
- Experience calculating cash flow analysis for estimates including exposure costs
- Familiar with quantitative risk analysis techniques and software
- Experience with construction and commissioning phases of a project
- AACE International certification or working knowledge of AACE recommended practices in the areas of Estimating or Project Controls
- Significant experience with other third-party estimating software
- Experience working on projects related to the energy transition business
