JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for leading, assembling, and managing estimates, budget controls, and risk assessments during the preconstruction phase for all scopes and disciplines of work. Develop relationships with Vendors and Trade Partners to maximize efficiency and project success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Work with the VP-Preconstruction Services/Director of Preconstruction to establish a bid team with assignments.
  • Coordinating bond requirements with VP-Preconstruction
  • Scheduling pre-bid
  • Manage the bid solicitation
  • Coordinate and manage project-specific MBE/WBE
  • Read and interpret Drawings and Project
  • Creating the Timberline estimate for the input of items by the bid
  • Identify project risk and potential
  • Attend Pre-bid
  • Review General Conditions, site logistics, schedule, & scope of
  • Thoroughly review project plans and specifications and coordinate with teams for complete
  • Perform multi-level estimating techniques on alternative bid delivery
  • Manage Bid Form requirements and assemble final
  • Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs and associated costs utilizing labor, material, and equipment cost
  • Analyze and secure costs for project-specified items with appropriate subcontractors and
  • Preparation of the pre-bid construction
  • Organize and Participate in Drawing / Estimate
  • Responsible for designating a bid
  • Analyze alternative means and methods to determine the best value for the
  • Assist with the direction of bid day
  • Develop bid package scopes of work and required bid documents with assistance from the Project Manager and Build
  • Define and manage the post-bid analysis/scope review process and assist with subcontractor
  • Coordinate and assist with project hand-off
  • Participate in Pre-Construction services type work such as budgeting, design meetings, and value engineering
  • Assist and participate in presentations with
  • Visit project sites to determine construction
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key subcontractors, suppliers, and
  • Manages the collection and archiving of cost history, as well as the maintenance of the Estimating Software
  • Evaluate industry cost
  • Review, train, and manage work prepared by Project
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
  • The position reports to the Director of Preconstruction
  • Position indirectly reports to the Vice President of Preconstruction Services and Regional Leaders
    • Reasons for indirect reporting relationship: Coordination of estimating responsibilities and resource management
  • Directly reporting to this position are: None
  • Indirectly reporting to this position are Project Estimator, Estimator, Preconstruction Coordinator, Co-op/Intern, Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Project Engineer

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 5 or more years of estimating experience in the construction.
Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency with office equipment, computers, and various PC software programs and knowledge of estimating software.

Other Skills:

Well-organized, self-motivated, and able to proficiently perform duties with little supervisory guidance.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Motor Vehicle report required.

Physical Demands:

Medium amount of physical exertion. Medium manual dexterity or physical manipulation. Medium level of physical stamina and endurance. Maintain regular and punctual attendance, work overtime as assigned, travel overnight as required, and comply with all company policies and procedures including safety.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
