What You'll Do
- Lead the planning and build-out of our robot manufacturing process, from prototype to low-volume batch production (10-100 units).
- Develop assembly procedures, tooling, and fixtures for robot chassis, sensor mounts, harness routing, and software flashing.
- Collaborate with our engineering team to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) and lower part count, labor time, and cost.
- Own the creation of work instructions, test plans, and QA checkpoints for each robot type.
- Evaluate and coordinate with domestic and international suppliers - from sand casting to contract assembly.
- Set up or support a pilot production line in Denver or Mexico using lean principles and modular workstations.
- Implement basic MRP/ERP workflows to track inventory, batch builds, and fieldable units.
- Drive continuous improvement in yield, throughput, and cost per unit.
Requirements
What You Bring
- 8+ years' experience in a lean manufacturing engineering role with a background in mechanical or industrial engineering - ideally in robotics, automation, or electromechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience building or scaling complex hardware systems - e.g., aerospace, medical devices, AGVs, robots, EVs, etc.
- Strong understanding of mechanical fabrication, cable routing, battery systems, PCBA handling, and production safety.
- Experience working with casting vendors, CNC shops, PCB assembly houses, and box-build contractors.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion, etc.) and 2D documentation tools.
- Experience with ERP systems, ISO 9001, or Lean Manufacturing.
- Spanish language skills desired
What Success Looks Like in 12 Months
- We can reliably scale manufacturing from 10-20 robots/month to 90-100 robots/month with high consistency and QC pass rates.
- Our chassis and harness designs are streamlined for cost and ease of assembly.
- All builds follow clear, documented instructions, and test data is logged for every unit.
- We have a manufacturing strategy ready for U.S. or Mexico-based scale-up.
