Job Description:
L3Harris has an immediate opening for a Lead Project Engineer (PE) for full lifecycle Project Engineering support for multiple laser system development programs including hardware, test, and operations. The Lead PE will be managing the execution of several development efforts to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments in a growing business area.

Job Description:
L3Harris has an immediate opening for a Lead Project Engineer (PE) for full lifecycle Project Engineering support for multiple laser system development programs including hardware, test, and operations. The Lead PE will be managing the execution of several development efforts to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments in a growing business area.
Essential Functions:
- Lead technical proposals with the Business Development and Engineering teams to ensure the work output is consistent with business needs and compliant with development practices.
- Develops, oversees and coordinates the cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects with subcontractors within the program guidelines set by the Program Manager and customer.
- Keeping costs within the dictated budget, oversight of Estimate to Complete activities, and identifying to the Program Manager any cost growth and reasons for growth.
- Identifies, tracks, mitigates, and dispositions program-level risks.
- Estimate resource and material needs for the project/product.
- Estimate resource and material needs for the project/product.
- Work through the functional organizations to assist in recommending staff and projecting future staffing requirements based on the current programs' work and future related business opportunities.
- Earned Value variance analysis of Engineering Tasks.
- Coordinate production transition/hand off to Operations and Quality efforts.
- Provide recommendations on investments to improve operational efficiencies in the engineering organization.
- Assist with technical roadmap development for the product line(s).
- Follow strategic direction set by Program and functional leadership.
- Occasional travel to customer and supplier sites, and other L3Harris locations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- 5+ years of Profect Engineering experience in a DoD environment
- 5+ years experience writing technical documentation and developing analysis reports
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVMS) in a DOD environment
- Experience with best practices for project engineering and program execution and managing multi-discipline programs across multiple locations.
- Prior project engineering experience on at least two programs, with at least one program being a medium scale complex system or subsystem (>5 System Engineers or >$15M).
- Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which requires US citizenship.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well within and outside of the organization including customers, vendors, and leadership with minimal oversight
- Able to effectively communicate and transfer system architecture and design knowledge with other functions including Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, Suppliers, and Customers.
- Experience writing BOEs and supporting proposals
- Experience with Technical Supplier Management, Risk and Opportunity Management.
- Able to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a team of engineers supporting engineering analysis, architecture, trade studies, and continuous improvement.
- Support hands-on integration & testing of complex subsystems across all interfaces (i.e., mechanical, electrical, and software).
- Identifies, tracks, mitigates, and dispositions program-level risks.
