As an experienced HSE professional, the Lead Site Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing Site Safety Coordinators with mentorship and coaching as well as verifying that Marcon health and safety management system is implemented at site level. Lead Site Safety Coordinators are expected to a subject matter expert and act as a valuable resource for site leadership in all HSE-related matters.

About the role:
Support site superintendent in the implementation of the Marcon HSE Management System on site level
Provide mentorship, guidance, and coaching to site safety coordinators on site
Promote a culture of job site safety ownership by all site personnel; Collaborate with project managers and site leadership to foster a safe working environment
Verify that all safe work practices and procedures are understood and followed at the site level, provide coaching and feedback to construction personnel
Conduct site specific HSE orientations for all new site workers and visitors
Lead daily site inspections; identify, record, and verify implementation of corrective actions as required
Lead development and implementation of project safety plans, support site superintendent in completing regular risk assessments
Verify that all incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts and conditions are reported within the established timelines and participate in incident investigations as required
Review site specific trade partner documentation for accuracy (ground disturbance permits, exposure control plans, fall protection plans, hazard assessments, etc.)
Provide updates to management on all safety issues that arise through Marcon's established escalation process
Participate in contractor pre-mobilization meetings and represent HSE team in progress meetings
Assist with development of content for monthly HSE team meetings and weekly toolbox meetings
Review documentation and verify that all records are of sufficient quality and are stored in accordance with information privacy legislation
Participate in the COR audits as required
Manage sufficient stock of PPE and safety supplies on site; distribute as necessary.
Maintain current knowledge of the applicable OHS legislation, standards, and industry best practices
Oversee the administration of first aid, ensuring readiness and competence in emergency response protocols. Administer first aid treatments as required.
Escalate all workplace injuries to the HSE Team as part of the Injury Management Program and complete necessary documentation as required.
Perform other job site duties as assigned.

About you:
Valid Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a construction safety coordinator role.
First aid training required: Minimum of Standard First Aid with CPR-C/AED or equivalent. Preferred: Advanced First Aid or equivalent.
Proactive in anticipating and mitigating potential safety issues.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to enforce and promote safety policies effectively.
In-depth knowledge of WorkSafeBC Workers Compensation Act, OHS Regulations, and applicable standards
Demonstrated ability to keep detailed and accurate health, safety & environment records.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to positively influence others
Highly detail-oriented and organized.
Adaptable, and able to use good judgement and manage the unexpected.
Able to commute to any site locations throughout the Lower Mainland area.
