Description:

CSA serves the environmental planning and surveying needs of offshore energy industry, including oil, gas, and wind in the U.S. and internationally. CSA is seeking a scientist with leadership experience in offshore energy or closely related industries ready to engage in a fast-paced, applied science leadership role in the private sector. This person will work primarily in the Offshore Energy market at CSA, and join our team in providing customized, competitive, and high-quality services to industry and government clients while adhering to the robust standards of a research scientist.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Leading projects as a Chief Scientist and/or Project manager on multiple energy sector projects;
  • Developing project reports for internal teams and external clients;
  • Performing quality assurance and quality control procedures for data and deliverables;
  • Developing and reviewing presentations, reports, and other deliverables;
  • Leading proposal efforts;
  • Ability to travel and provide on-site or on-vessel support for field-based campaigns;
  • Developing and fostering positive internal team and client interactions;
  • Being accountable and responsible for personal safety and safety of others;
  • Adhering to company standards for quality management;
  • Other duties in other market sectors as assigned.


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in life or physical science;
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills;
  • Basic skills in statistical analysis and survey design;
  • Demonstrated leadership role in offshore surveys
  • Proposal development experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team;
  • Oceanographic sampling experience;
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and standard Microsoft software packages including word processing skills.


Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Advanced skills in statistical analysis and survey design;
  • Familiarity with oil spill response planning;
  • Safety and environmental hazard training;
  • Understanding of data integration using Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
  • Foreign language skills.


Applicants must possess current, long-term authorization to work in the United States; CSA is unable to initiate visa sponsorship. Letters of Recommendation are required. An MSWORD skill assessment will be administered.
