For our Analytical Industries plant in Pomona, Ca. we are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Lean Production Manager to drive and lead the implementation of strategic objectives across the business. Provide advice, guidance, and support to the site teams to ensure compliance with company management standards and legislative requirements. Safety and Quality will be at the heart of all you do whilst delivering the financial objectives for the business.
Drive positive transformation throughout the site, build and mentor effective teams and drive employee engagement, involvement, and development.
Support and sustain a continuous improvement culture - establish lean manufacturing as a way of life and work with other functional leadership within the business to ensure that AII operations are aligned to strategic objectives and that capacity and productivity is proactively planned and managed. Labor management and schedule adherence will be critical to success.
Develop and implement initiatives to meet organization requirements including detailed performance tracking whereby we operate hour by hour protocols and tier meetings to drive performance and productivity. Waste elimination and process automation will be essential.
Producing high quality components for both standard production and prototype/product development initiatives whilst modelling your behaviors in line with our values and guiding principles.
You will adhere to all works rules, policies, and standards. Communicating promptly and professionally at all times.
Primary duties include:
Safety management and improvement. Proactive approach to Safety Improvement Opportunities.
Identify and expand team member skills and capabilities promoting self-improvement and flexibility
Regular structured 1:1s with team members
Schedule adherence, visual factory
Targeted elimination or simplification of 3D (Dull, Dirty, Dangerous) tasks
Maintain exceptional physical and digital housekeeping and organizational controls
Pro-active approach to 'Quality' management, creating a culture of 'Right first time, every time'.
Ownership of the management hourly boards, Tier boards and standard work
Leading and driving problem solving and continuous improvement activities
Manage team member's performance and contributions, including absenteeism and discipline
Identify new projects to deliver continuous improvement, lean culture and productivity
Building team member capabilities using gap analysis tools. Maintaining skills matrices and an 'agile workforce'.
5S Housekeeping, delivering 'a place for everything and everything it its place'.
Attending daily reviews and the necessary business cadence including layered audits
Resource planning, budgetary accountability, KPIs and communications
Supporting commercial activities as needed
OEE, TCOQ, Net Productivity, Labor % Sales, WIP Management, Major Project Ideation, and Lean Maturity Assessment will all be key measures of success
Requirements
Requirements, Skills, and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, or engineering related field.
Previous experience of a 'SAFETY FIRST' culture with a zero tolerance and continuous safety improvement mentality
Previous experience of a 'Quality' management culture "Right First Time" within an ISO certified environment
Previous experience of working in a manufacturing and engineering environment
Previous experience of leading a large team with varying levels of skills and experience
Experience working within a disciplined and system-controlled environment
Experience of working with a SQDCIP (or equivalent) production management
At least 5 years' experience working within a senior management team, operations leadership and lean role
Have the highest of personal standards with an ability to mentor and promote improvement through Lean techniques such as value stream mapping, 5s, standard work, cellular flow, mistake proofing, TPM
Good computer skills desirable and experience of basic business software and ERP systems advantageous
