Job Summary and Qualifications

The DT&I Learning and Design Manager is qualified to support all aspects of professional development but is largely responsible for the implementation and evaluation phase of a wide range of learning experiences. These programs are specifically tailored to meet the unique training needs of healthcare professionals within acute care facilities and outpatient units. This role requires a clinician with professional development qualifications who can apply best practice approaches to educating health-related professionals and clinicians. The Learning and Design Manager Clinician will collaborate closely with the interprofessional team to identify gaps in knowledge and understanding, providing training on essential competencies for DT&I projects. This individual must project a caring approach to effectively support healthcare professionals in delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Implementation and Evaluation: implement creative activities and assess the effectiveness of learning programs, using data-driven approaches to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with organizational goals, with a focus on enhancing clinical competencies that result in organizational outcomes.
  • Design and Development: provide support to the creation of impactful learning programs that meet the needs of the DT&I team and its stakeholders. Ensure that programs are aligned with the strategic objectives of DT&I, providing diverse learning experiences that are relevant to acute care environments.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the interprofessional team to identify training needs and gaps in clinical understanding. Collaborate with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to develop targeted training solutions that address these gaps and enhance competency in key areas of acute care.
  • Performance Support: Operate as an integral member of the Clinical Integration cross-functional team, contributing to the development and implementation of training programs that support the team's ability to meet performance expectations and project goals within a clinical setting.
  • Strategic Alignment: Work under the strategic leadership of the AVP and Director for Interprofessional Education and Training to ensure that all educational initiatives are aligned with the broader strategic agenda of DT&I.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging trends in operational and clinical education, instructional design, and adult learning, integrating innovative approaches and technologies into training programs to enhance their impact on clinical practice.
  • Travel and On-Site Evaluation: Conduct iterative evaluations of educational methods and activities, which will necessitate travel to Innovation sites and HCA facilities to gather insights and ensure that training programs are effective and aligned with on-the-ground clinical needs.
  • Behavioral Norms and Compliance: Practice and adhere to HCA's Behavioral Norms, "Code of Conduct" philosophy, and "Mission and Value Statement," ensuring that all actions and decisions align with the organization's ethical standards.
  • Committee Participation: Serve on DT&I Committees and actively participate in all activities related to readiness, planning, and implementation, contributing to the success of DT&I initiatives.
  • Relationship Cultivation: Cultivate strong relationships within the HCA professional development community while fostering connections with both internal and external clients, ensuring effective collaboration and support for DT&I objectives. Maintain a caring approach in all interactions to support the compassionate care mission of HCA.


What qualifications you will need:

  • Clinical Licensure: Required. A valid clinical license (e.g., RN, NP, PA) with experience in an acute care setting.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience in professional development, particularly in a healthcare or acute care environment (required)
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including interprofessional stakeholders.
  • Expertise in identifying clinical training needs, designing targeted learning programs, and evaluating their effectiveness within an acute care context.
  • Familiarity with current trends and best practices in clinical education, instructional design, and adult learning.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various Innovation sites and HCA facilities as required
