Position Summary:

This position will support the VP, Legal who manages legal and compliance for the company and its affiliated entities, including the appraisal management company (AMC), Valligent (www.valligent.com). Duties will include legal and compliance support in managing the privacy, intellectual property, regulatory, contractual, risk management, vendor management, AMC licensing, and other general legal and compliance needs of the companies. The position requires experience in risk management.

Strong initiative, professional presence, and excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills are essential; as is an ability to manage multiple tasks, identify, investigate and resolve issues, and work in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. All candidates must possess professional presence to work with a variety of stakeholders in the companies in the day-to-day management of legal and compliance issues to achieve the goals and objectives of the business.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Support the VP, Legal in managing and overseeing all aspects of AMC matters including without limitation annual audits, due diligence requests, corporate tax support, maintaining credentials for MLS boards, interacting with state boards, and supporting appraisers and the AMC itself in maintaining all relevant licenses and submitting all relevant paperwork for licenses/renewals and other relevant matters.
  • Support the VP, Legal in managing and overseeing the Company's compliance and risk management policies and programs, and their implementation, documentation, daily operation, and maintenance, including updates and recommendations, as needed.
  • Support the VP, Legal in streamlining and maintaining infrastructure for the vendor management program including renewal communication, relevant approvals, risk ratings, and data entry with respect to various engagements and contracts. Work closely with IT/Infosec on streamlining review in the client onboarding process.
  • Support the VP, Legal in maintaining a culture of compliance and recommending changes to enhance compliance in line with applicable law (and risk management architecture) including without limitation standards of conduct, training, privacy matters, policies, and procedures, regulatory obligations and all related controls (including but not limited to FISMA Rev 5 and SOC2 Type 2). Coordinate with technology and operations team members in due diligence and compliance requests, as well as SOC, FISMA and related operational audits.
  • Research, analyze and stay current with all aspects of laws affecting AMCs and support the VP, Legal in horizon scanning for laws and regulations affecting all Veros Software entities or for various projects by Veros Software stakeholders.
  • Gain an understanding of corporate strategies and objectives so that legal and compliance advice, efforts and recommendations will help accomplish business goals while mitigating risk.
  • Manage HIVE for the team, maintain logs and meticulous records of all aspects of the role, prepare and compile reports for VP, Legal and management.
  • Drive continuous process improvement/efficiencies and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Support the VP, Legal in reviewing Non-Disclosure Agreements and in other ad hoc projects/contracts from time to time.


Qualifications:
  • The qualified applicant must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school and an active license to practice law in the State of California with at least 3-5 years experience in a compliance, regulatory, or internal audit function with strong knowledge of compliance risk management (including InfoSec), vendor management, and privacy. In-house legal experience or law firm experience in addition to compliance experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with risk assessments, FISMA, SOC2 Type 2, IT compliance or similar audits.
  • Demonstrated ability to digest complex information and communicate clearly (a writing sample will be required), and to design, develop and implement strategies for information gathering, analysis and presentation.
  • Must have excellent communication, analytical, writing skills, research, project management, and organizational skills with an ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects. Must have strong legal research, analytics and writing skills with an intellectual curiosity and ability to learn quickly.
  • The qualified applicant must have strong technical skills and also be proficient in the full Office365 suite (e.g. highly proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with HIVE, privacy (CCPA) matters, or AMC licensing matters, is preferred.
