The Position:
Legal Counsel will provide expert guidance on commercial and government contracts, as well as business operations. The role involves reviewing and supporting the preparation of proposals, agreements, and amendments, and participating in contract negotiations and implementation. The position will assist in new business pursuits, improve departmental efficiency, support audits, and provide training. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is key to staying aligned with organizational needs and changes.
The Day to Day:
Provide legal guidance on commercial, government contracts, and business operations.
Review of public and private customers' RFPs, purchase orders & other relevant documentation while supporting the preparation of proposals, agreements, contract amendments and claims. Work with key stakeholders to develop improvements to process and standard documents - identify roadblocks, challenges, and address/improve as needed.
Participate and/or lead negotiations and implementation of frame agreements with key customers.
Analyze contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with deadlines, deliverables and with appropriate laws, regulations and corporate or government policies.
Administer and maintain electronic and physical contract files in accordance with internal and external regulations.
Support the resolution of contractual issues and disputes while also providing guidance regarding contractua
Candidate skills & requirements
What you Bring to Safran:
Juris Doctorate with 3+ years of legal experience.
Experience working on commercial and defense transaction in the US and preferably in Canada as well.
Experience working under FAR/DFAR.
Experience with contracts involving hardware and software sales.
Excellent negotiation skills both in one-on-on and group situations.
Strong business acumen, with an understanding of financial/analytical issues with profit and loss implications.
Ability to closely collaborate cross functionally, specifically with program management, sales managers, sales operations, quality, sourcing, legal, business operations & finance
International experience preferred.
