Indigo Park Canada (Indigo) has an established 30-year history in Canada's parking and transportation industry with offices in most major Canadian cities and is a market leader offering a range of advanced digital services and non-traditional uses of parking real estate assets. Following its recent amalgamation with another regional Canadian parking operator and accelerated entry into new vertical markets, the Company is seeking to add a Legal Counsel to further equip its established in-house team to support Indigo's rapid growth and strategic priorities. Reporting directly to the Vice President & General Counsel, this position will provide operational, legal and strategic advice to the organization's management and executive leadership teams on a broad range of issues, with an initial focus on negotiating and drafting routine services agreements and commercial leases, third party vendor due diligence and contracting, compliance and related policies and procedures and supporting the Company's busy mergers and acquisitions initiatives. Opportunities to support the business in other disciplines, including corporate, finance, employment/labour, risk management and information technology are also available as the scope of the Legal Department keeps pace with the Company's growth. You will work both independently and closely with the General Counsel on a variety of governance projects and initiatives from Indigo's parent organization in France and North American joint venture partners. This position will be primarily be based out of any of Indigo's offices in the following cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montral and Halifax. Occasional travel within Canada will be required.

The preferred candidate will have a minimum of three to five years of broad experience in commercial and/or real estate law in a combination of in-house and large or mid-sized private practice environments, with excellent drafting and verbal skills, strong business acumen and pragmatism, and a sense of adventure. Success in this role will require excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving capabilities, and a desire to contribute to a responsive and dynamic Legal Department that will bring lasting value and strong relationships between Indigo personnel and departments alike. Your collaborative mindset will be an asset in cross-functional projects and contributing to the Legal team's mandate as a "roll up the sleeves" key partner to the business.

Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice law in a Canadian jurisdiction
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience (a combination of in-house and at a mid/large sized law firm preferred)
  • Excellent freehand drafting and editing skills
  • Broad experience in real estate and related commercial contracting (direct experience in the property management industry will be a valuable asset)
  • Adept at Microsoft Office suite and a willingness to learn new software applications
  • A resilient and growth-oriented mindset
  • Impeccable English, written and spoken, is required, bilingual in French is an asset
