Legal Counsel

TerraForm Power, a Brookfield Renewable portfolio company, is a leading renewable energy owner and operator, managing over 2,200 MW of wind, solar and storage projects across North America. TerraForm Power is looking to hire a Legal Counsel to join its legal team. The Legal Counsel will be an integral member of TerraForm Power's legal team and interact with all areas of the business.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of legal and business issues relating to wind, solar and storage utility scale assets.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across business (including finance, capital markets, operations, and tax) to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Support on corporate and project level transactions, including project financings, M&A and other strategic transactions.
  • Support development team across all areas for greenfield development and repowerings, including review of land, equipment supply and construction agreements.
  • Manage compliance with project documents (including financings and power purchase agreements); manage relationships with external stakeholders, including lenders, JV partners and tax equity investors, and provide general legal support.
  • Provide legal advice on corporate secretarial and governance matters for Company and its subsidiaries.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.

  • Ability and eagerness to quickly develop relevant expertise and effective working relationships at all levels in the organization.


Qualifications
  • A minimum of two (2) years of legal experience (law firm and/or in-house).
  • JD and member in good standing of a state bar.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated interest in renewable energy, energy/infrastructure sectors and project finance (including tax equity structures) is considered an asset.

Annual base salary: $200,000 - $225,000
