Job Summary:

The Legal Innovation, Technology, & Analytics (LITA) team at DHL Group is seeking a strategic and innovative Manager of Legal Operations to join our DHL Supply Chain team in the Americas region.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving the excellence of our legal operations while combining strategic thinking with hands-on operational expertise. This includes leading large scale global projects, managing Legal Operations Analysts and Sr. Analyst, and being a subject matter expert in our legal systems and processes. Your ability to assist in strategic planning and roadmap development will be crucial.

In this role, you will need to foster cross-functional relationships while ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day management of our legal function. Your passion for innovation and technology will play a pivotal role in bringing forward-thinking solutions to our legal department.

Reporting to the Director of Legal Innovation, Technology, & Analytics, this role is a unique opportunity for a strategic, innovative, and experienced individual to make a significant impact on DHL's strategic journey through their leadership and project management expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Leadership
  • Oversees strategic and operational aspects of running the Americas regional Legal function as directed by, and in close coordination with the Director of LITA
  • Working with the legal leadership team to oversee and manage the America's Legal department's annual strategic goals and manage and facilitate goal development, communication, reporting and ongoing measurement against objectives.
  • Contribute to overall long-term strategic planning and road-mapping efforts.
  • Project and Process Management
    • Strategically and proactively create, maintain, and optimize Process Maps to ensure updated and compliant operational workflows.
    • Develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance the functionality and efficiency of the legal department, including the use of automation and AI.
    • Support projects that may include either new program launches or significant improvement initiatives, including efforts that span objective setting, scope definition, stakeholder analysis, milestone setting, work-breakdown structures, stakeholder buy-in, management of working group meetings and status updates, management of change requests and scope creep, and early testing, feedback gathering and design change, and post-launch iterations.
    • Understand and support the day-to-day processes of the LITA team, providing guidance and insight to improve efficiency.
  • Technology and Innovation
    • Support the strategic planning and administration of all department systems, ensuring their optimal functionality.
    • Collaborate with legal analytics team members to provide data-driven insights, enabling effective decision-making regarding the department's operations.
    • Drive complex integrations and large-scale data migration efforts, including system maintenance, releases, and upgrades.
    • Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in legal technology and analytics, applying this knowledge to innovate within the department.
    • Act as an active participant in technology projects alongside the IT group assessing potential new technology solutions, and assisting with system launches, upgrades, and product enhancements.
  • System/Process Administration and Compliance
    • Will become SME in all department systems, including providing system support, conducting training, ensuring data integrity and enhancing operational process efficiencies.
    • Provide guidance and direction to the LITA team in supporting broader departmental process and tooling changes affecting the legal team.
    • Oversee and ensure the team's compliance with all applicable company and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Direct the LITA team to perform periodic tasks and data quality checks to maintain system integrity.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for supplier customer success teams, managing technical issues that arise.
    • Supervise the LITA team in managing user access, designing roles and profiles, performing user maintenance tasks, managing tickets in vendor ticketing systems, and providing proactive administration of functional activities and management reporting capabilities.
    • Manages the contract lifecycle process, providing oversight and support for 2 contractors handling the daily responsibilities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.


    • Oversees vendor and financial management processes, supervising 1 full-time employee in North America who manages the day-to-day responsibilities, ensuring operational efficiency while providing necessary support and guidance as needed.

    Stakeholder Management and Relationship Building
    • Work closely with legal and other department leaders to align legal department initiatives with business objectives.
    • Serve as a champion and change agent shaping the culture of the department.
    • Develop and sustain high-quality presentations, executive summaries, legal department content pages and other communication materials to keep relevant stakeholders informed about the progress and updates of legal department, projects, and initiatives.
    • Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures, including onboarding and off-boarding Legal personnel, Legal approval process, etc. to assure consistency.
    • Assists the Director of LITA with the daily operations of the Law Department and oversight of the Americas LITA team.

    Required Skills and Experience:
    • 7+ years' experience in legal operations with an in-house legal department, or other relevant areas such as IT, Project Management, business operations
    • University degree in business, finance, technology, or other relevant areas
    • Significant experience working in a multi-national corporate environment.
    • A demonstrated understanding of how to develop, implement, and enhance processes. Eager to learn new things and apply knowledge to innovate, improve/simplify processes.
    • Thrives in a global, fast-paced, and dynamic work environment. Ability to manage high job complexity and constant multi-tasking. Well organized, able to prioritize well, work efficiently. Shows flexibility as workloads fluctuate.
    • An ownership mentality - sees tasks through to completion. Goes the extra step to proactively seek out answers to problems that may fall outside his/her area of expertise.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence and work effectively with global teams at all levels (including senior leadership) within a highly matrixed organization.
    • Experience developing strategic or departmental planning materials that required consensus gathering from multiple constituents. Strong business partnering skills.
    • A genuine interest and ability to connect with, build and maintain relationships with people at all levels and across organizational and geographic boundaries.
    • Excellent management skills, including the ability to effectively motivate and manage a team.
