Description:

The City of Pullman and Neill Public Library is looking for an innovative, collaborative, and highly motivated library professional to serve as our next Library Services Director. Under the guidance of the Library Board of Trustees, Mayor, and City Council, the Library Director provides leadership and vision to fulfill the mission of the Library. The Director designs and implements policies, budgets, plans, and directives guiding library activities, and supervises all library staff. The Library Director works closely with the Board of Trustees, Friends of Neill Public Library, City Administrator, and their City of Pullman colleagues. The Library Director is expected to serve as an effective public representative of the library, working respectfully with individuals and community groups to strengthen the library and the Pullman community.

The Library Director is expected to uphold the principles embodied in the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read, and Freedom to View statements. These are endorsed by the Neill Public Library Board of Trustees and codified in the library's Collection Development Policy.

Neill Public has 24 employees (17.5 FTE) and a 2025 operating budget of $2.1 million. Recently the library has completed a significant remodel of its service desk area, Friends book sale area, and will transition to a new integrated library software system in May 2025 (Koha). Additionally, working with BERK Consulting and SHKS Architects, the library will complete a community-led services and facility assessment by the end of 2025. This position is a significant opportunity to work with an outstanding team to strengthen an excellent public library in a beautiful, engaged university town.

Salary Range: $101,052 - $122,834

Applicants are required to have certification by the State Board for Certification of Librarians or the ability to obtain certification at time of appointment as required by R.C.W. 27.04.030
