Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a Junior Linux Systems Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado.
Key Duties:
- Troubleshoot and maintain Linux-based physical and virtual machines supporting the Missile Defense Space Center.
- Administer the OpenShift Container Platform and manage container repositories and registries.
- Collaborate with network engineers, system engineers, cybersecurity engineers, and other administrators to deliver high-quality, innovative engineering services to the Government customer.
- Perform daily system monitoring, system backups and restorations, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous operations.
- Comply with organizational standard operating procedures for systems administration.
- Manage user accounts and access permissions for Linux systems and equipment.
- Ensure system software installation, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cybersecurity mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and service level agreements.
- Conduct functional, security, and connectivity testing to ensure the continued operability of Linux-based infrastructure.
Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
- Active Secret Clearance (or higher).
- 2 or more years of direct experience using the Linux Command Line Interface.
- Demonstrated innovation in process improvement and system design.
- Ability to quickly learn complex concepts, decompose challenging software problems, and deliver effective solutions.
- Experience creating and following standard processes with clear documentation of results.
- Strong understanding of system administration principles, particularly Linux system administration.
- Excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills for effective interaction with program and government stakeholders.
- Ability to report to Schriever Space Force Base within 2 hours to support mission surge events.
- Willingness to support occasional evening and weekend events for MDA customers.
- Positive, adaptable attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to take on additional duties necessary for mission success.
- Possesses a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification with Continuing Education (e.g., CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP).
- Ability to obtain within six months of hire an active Linux certification (Linux+, RHCSA, LPIC, or LFCS).
- High School diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of experience or Associate degree (or higher).
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Active Linux certification.
- Experience with Linux system administration in a DoD environment.
- Experience administering Red Hat Linux environments using Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) Servers.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to expand knowledge and skill set.
- Experience resolving hardware and software conflicts, performing server maintenance, and handling break/fix activities.
