Linux System Administrator
Salary Range: $90,000 to $125,000 Annually
Job Description:
This position requires an IT professional with experience maintaining applications and databases in a secure environment. The successful candidate will have experience maintaining primarily Linux servers in a cluster with also one Windows server along with multiple MySQL databases and one PostgreSQL database. The candidate must have experience with security procedures in secure environments and be able to adapt to constantly changing security policies and procedures. The candidate should have great customer skills and preferably experience supporting systems in a DoD or IC environment.
Position Duties:
Lead POA&M for vulnerability mitigation and control
Maintain accounts and requirements related to having a privileged access to the customer's systems
Provide application administration for a multi-tiered web application across multiple domains, on one Windows and multiple Linux platforms secure environments (cloud hosting experience is a plus)
Assist the customer with technical questions and issue resolution
Facilitate discussion between customers and HQ staff to ensure timely resolution of issues and incorporation of upgrades
Administer databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL, including proactive monitoring of system resources to maintain database health and uptime
Perform upgrades, patching and onsite testing of applications and databases. Maintain staging server and lead the promotion to production process
Coordinate all outages as required by the customer, ensuring that customer specific notifications and documentation are filed
Troubleshoot issues related to applications, working with developers to diagnose and remediate issues
Proactive monitoring of operating systems and network health, including system resources and network services, to ensure uptime and application stability
Write scripts to automate data migration and other periodic tasks
Generate reports and audits as required by the customer
Maintain a repository of customer specific reports and troubleshooting steps/resolutions
Ensure that all reports and issues are well documented on the customer's system
Perform data migration between domains periodically
Required Experience:
* Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience administering systems and databases
Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to acquire SCI
US Citizenship required due to Government contract requirements
Extensive systems administration knowledge of RHEL7/8 platforms and fundamental knowledge of Windows server OS
Good verbal, written and customer communication skills
Experience with scripting languages, ideally Perl and BASH
Knowledge of computer networking fundamentals
Experience administering RDBMSs, ideally MySQL and PostgreSQL
Professional experience supporting web and database applications
Desired Experience:
Degree preferred
Knowledge of DoD/IC security and configuration management processes
Experience configuring and administrating Apache Solr
Experience administrating Integrated Library Systems
Experience with metadata conversion scripting and processing
Familiarity with LDAP protocol and record format of modern directory services
