Under the direction of the DGIT Infrastructure Manager and as a member of the UCLA Health Digital Technology (DGIT) team , the Systems Engineer is responsible for effective and efficient delivery and support of IT infrastructure services to the Health Sciences schools. The ideal candidate will have advanced skills and expertise with supporting Windows and Linux systems, servers, applications and services in an large, complex enterprise environment.
Key responsibilities:
This position is expected to follow UCLA Health IT ITIL process governing request, incident, change, and configuration management. Expertise configuring/supporting Puppet, GitHub, Atlassian Cloud, Tanium, and/or LogicMonitor is a plus.
This individual will have a diversified background of technical infrastructure experience, demonstrated server systems administration acumen, plus a superior, service-oriented approach.
This role will participate in providing 24x7 on-call support for business critical systems.
This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence on-site at least once a month, or as needed based on operational requirements. Please note, travel to the "home office" location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary.
Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is $102,500- $227,7000 annually. The University anticipates offering a salary between the minimum and $150,000 annually.

Key responsibilities:
- Applies advanced concepts to deliver enterprise-class systems administration including the build, deployment and configuration of systems, databases, networking, firewalls, pipeline automation and related technologies.
- Responsible for design, testing, implementation, operational support, maintenance and performance tuning of servers in Test, Staging and Production environments. Proposes and implements system enhancements and updates to improve performance and reliability.
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Deliver operational support and troubleshooting for client-hosted systems and applications. Executes security controls to safeguard data, privacy and IT resources.
- Develops, adopts, and implements maintenance, patch management, system standards, monitoring, backups, and practices.
