Overview

The primary responsibilities of this position is to manage all aspects of our PRIDE litigation cost containment program, our Subrogation recovery program to ensure we are effectively managing our client's workers' compensation programs and achieve best financial outcomes. Management of these programs includes development of statistical data on performance and communication of trends with management team to ensure we are meeting client and carrier expectations, maintain compliance with the laws and consistency statewide.

What You'll Do

  • Litigation Cost Containment
    • PRIDE Panel Management.
    • Ensure department defense fee reductions and maintain branch financial goals.
    • Evaluate quarterly performance of defense firms and make necessary changes to panel.
    • Provide quarterly statistics to management team and implement performance improvement where necessary.
    • Lead branch roundtables to facilitate settlements and best outcomes for our customers.
    • Provide annual training on defense cost containment to branches.
    • Develop and deliver quarterly litigation program statistics, trends (by Firm, Branch and Region), and comparative performance against statewide industry trends.
  • Subrogation Manager
    • Provide branch performance trends to the management team and lead branch plans of action for improvement to ensure that we are meeting carrier, reinsurer and client expectations for recoveries.
    • Provide branch training to ensure technical expertise in pursuing subrogation successfully on claims without defense representation, where appropriate.
    • Develop and deliver quarterly litigation program statistics, trends (by Firm, Branch and Region), and comparative performance against statewide industry trends.
  • Produce performance matrix for reinsurance and other external clients.
  • Assist with reinsurer claims for WC.
  • Provide annual statistical performance measurements to AVP on PRIDE and subrogation for inclusion in all marketing materials.
  • PIPS Large Loss - Participate in committee to review large losses and provide guidance to the claims team for quick resolution and best outcomes for our clients and reinsurers .
  • Maintain department vendor panel for court reporters.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What You'll Need

  • Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in Workers' Compensation required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in supervision and/or management required.
  • Self-Insurance Certificate or ability to pass Self-Insurance Exam within one (1) year of hire.
  • Must have California Experienced Adjuster and Post-Designation Certificates.
  • Effective organizer, planner, self-starter and leader requiring minimal supervision.
  • Excellent supervisory skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be available to travel within California.

Compensation:

The target salary range for this position is $110,000.00 to $140,000.00 (US Dollar) annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. Remote work environment flexibility but candidate must have California workers' compensation claims experience.
