The loads and durability engineer is responsible for building multi-body dynamics models to predict loads and using them for durability analysis for chassis and body components. The Engineer will support analysis activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Build multi-body dynamic models using ADAMS/Motionview and provide direction to the engineering team on loads and vehicle dynamics analysis. Utilize CAE techniques with component, system, and full vehicle models to assess performance in vehicle dynamics, durability, and fatigue attributes.
- Develop conceptual and detailed sub-system and system vehicle dynamics ADAMS models to execute kinematic/compliance modeling.
- Build ADAMS vehicle dynamics and loads models from design data and run fatigue analysis to provide design direction for components, systems, and full vehicle virtual prototypes.
- Ensure CAE targets are met in virtual prototypes.
- Be able to correlate analytical predictions with physical test performance.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent engineering degree).
- 5 to 10 years of experience in MBD/CAE.
- Knowledge of any simulation software such as ADAMS, MOTIONVIEW, nCode, DesignLife, NASTRAN, or MSC Fatigue.
- Experience at OEM/tier-1 is a big plus but will consider someone who has a solid background in this domain.
- Fundamental understanding of vehicle dynamics and/or loads analysis for chassis components.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Engineering or Ph.D.
- Experience with OEM product development for vehicle dynamics and/or loads.
- Understanding of requirements of suspension, steering, or braking systems.
