Working Environment
Work is performed primarily in a store setting with periodic travel to warehouse or supplier locations as needed. Tasks include regular in-person communication and frequent phone interactions. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination, and visual acuity to operate a keyboard, video display terminal, and other office equipment. Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders, frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds below waist, up to 50 pounds at waist/chest, and occasional lifting of up to 70 pounds. Standard business hours apply, but flexibility is required to address urgent issues, peak operational periods, or special projects. Occasional travel may be required to supplier locations, distribution centers, and retail stores across regions for on-site evaluations or operational needs. Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Negotiates and monitors freight contracts and performance
- Develops and implements logistics strategies to minimize cost while maximizing service and efficiencies
- Supervise and manage warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and shipping of goods
- Ensure accurate and efficient inventory control and handling of goods
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
- Manage the warehouse staff and assist stores with tracking freight
- Coordinate and manage freight scheduling in collaboration with contracted service providers
Experience/Education:
- Preferred degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics
- 5+ years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably within retail or multi-site operations within Alaska or other "off shore" locations
- Knowledge of inventory management
- Familiarity with warehouse management best practices
- Familiarity or training in hazmat requirements
- Ability to operate a forklift and pass company certification requirements
