As an RN or LPN, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Your expertise in areas such as family planning, working with people with disabilities, and discharge planning will be invaluable in our fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Spend the day (including bus transportation) with a patient while they are in school.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health status and needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations and assist in medical-surgical procedures.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions for patients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and outcomes.
- Utilize skills in ophthalmology and suture techniques when necessary.
- Adhere to safety protocols within a Level II Trauma Center environment.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred; familiarity with ophthalmology is a plus.
- Knowledge of family planning practices and working with individuals with disabilities is desirable.
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to perform diagnostic evaluations.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to nursing best practices.
