Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking a Systems Project Engineer to join our LRSO team providing support in application and execution of the following systems engineering management processes: requirements definition and analysis, digital engineering, architecture design, implementation, integration, V&V, transition, decision analysis, technical planning, technical assessment, requirements management, risk management, configuration management, technical data management, and interface management.

The selected candidate shall be responsible for technical/operational leadership of a project/mission within the programmatic guidelines set by the program manager and customer. This position requires a highly motivated individual with project engineering experience. Essential duties will include:
  • Define, generate, and review project requirements documentation.
  • Perform technical studies to refine project requirements. Monitor project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained. Provide the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received.
  • Provide expertise in Systems Engineering for the design, development, verification, manufacture, operation, maintenance, and disposal of weapons integrated on aircraft.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and AF system engineering policy for acquisition and life cycle management of systems.
  • Plan, monitor, and support Configuration and Data Management, Decision Analysis, Design, Manufacturing, Project Planning, Requirements Management, Risk Management, Sustainment, Technical Management and Control, and Verification processes.
  • Interface and coordinate with multiple Integrated Product Teams comprised of diverse engineers to include software, mechanical and electrical engineers as well as other functionals including program management, logistics, and finance.
  • Participate in and contribute to Design Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), Planning Meetings, and Program Management Reviews (PMR).
  • Evaluate trade studies and advise management relative to performance, supportability, cost, and schedule while considering risk.
  • Ensure adequate planning, readiness, and closeout of system engineering technical reviews.
  • Facilitate execution of Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs) and System Verification Review (SVR).
  • Evaluate system development and performance through conduct of system technical reviews.
  • Review and ensure adequacy of engineering documentation submitted for systems in development including documentation.
  • Write, coordinate, and maintain Government developed system engineering documentation, e.g. Systems Engineering Plan.
  • Perform Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model.
  • Prepare reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action to system engineering issues and processes.
  • Utilize Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) for management of system requirements.
  • Ensure and support a Model Based Systems Engineering approach for system development including use SysML and associated tools.
  • Monitor and support verification of system requirements.
  • Communicate effectively through written, verbal, and presentation methods


Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience (at least 12 years' of applicable experience in lieu of degree).
  • Must have 7 years' related Project Engineering experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an active SECRET DoD security clearance. Must be eligible for a Top Secret clearance.
  • Must be familiar with DoD Acquisition processes or project management professional principles.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Program office experience.
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience.
