Job Description:
As a Mainframe QA Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, scalability, and reliability of enterprise applications. This hands-on role requires strong expertise in mainframe technologies, automation, and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with engineers, product owners, and business analysts to maintain software quality while driving modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies for mainframe applications.
  • Lead QA initiatives, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and implement automated testing frameworks using REXX and BlueZone Session Manager scripting.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to analyze system workflows and data dependencies.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve complex issues in enterprise applications.
  • Utilize scheduling tools such as Control-M, ChangeMan, and Xpeditor for testing automation.
  • Conduct API testing using Parasoft and Fiddler to support modernization efforts.
  • Work in Agile environments, leveraging JIRA and Rally for backlog management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying automation opportunities.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote best practices in testing and development.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
  • 10+ years of experience with mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL, SQL Stored Procedures, IBM MQ, Kafka, CICS, Easytrieve, Datacom, and SORT utilities.
  • 5+ years of QA testing experience in the finance and brokerage industry, including working with regulatory bodies (DTCC, SEC).
  • 7+ years of experience with scheduling tools such as Control-M, ChangeMan, FileAid, Startool, Xpeditor, TOAD, and SPUFI.
  • Experience with REXX scripting and BlueZone Session Manager for test automation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for root cause analysis and impact assessment.
  • Expertise in Agile software development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) using JIRA and Rally.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, geographically distributed environment.
  • Experience in financial services or regulatory document processing is a plus.
  • Passion for automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement in software testing.

The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $70.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
