Job Title: Senior Maintenance Manager

Overview:

The Senior Maintenance Manager is tasked with designing and executing maintenance programs that enhance equipment uptime and optimize plant utility functions. This role provides strategic leadership for the reliability team and is accountable to the Manufacturing Site Director for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective use of manpower, materials, and resources. The goal is to achieve optimal capacity, asset reliability, and lifecycle cost efficiency for operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaboration & Communication:Forge and maintain strong working relationships with Maintenance Leadership, Planners, Storeroom staff, Engineers, Operators, and Mechanics.
  • Establish a robust communication network to facilitate effective interaction among mechanics, operators, Team Leaders, and Managers.
  • Team Engagement & Proactivity:Cultivate a proactive work environment that actively involves mechanics in planning, coordinating, and executing maintenance tasks.
  • Budget & Performance Management:Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring optimized spending aligned with capacity and asset reliability goals.
  • Analyze operational data and equipment performance histories to identify and implement improvements in key maintenance metrics and KPIs.
  • Workforce Development:Oversee the reliability workforce by developing succession plans, conducting skills assessments, and providing targeted training.
  • Strategic Improvement:Design, recommend, and implement strategies aimed at enhancing manufacturing process reliability and the preventative maintenance program.

Requirements

Required Experience & Skills:
  • Proven experience managing ammonia refrigeration systems, conducting process hazard analyses, and overseeing process safety management.
  • Demonstrated accountability for Controls and/or Instrumentation teams.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of high-speed, high-volume food manufacturing processes.
  • Solid background in project management, manufacturing processes, utilities, and facilities construction.
  • Experience with labor relations and union environments is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with FDA and OSHA regulations, GMPs, Sanitation, and HACCP standards.

Education & Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field, with 7+ years of reliability and/or maintenance experience and at least 3 years in a leadership role, OR
  • In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of reliability and/or maintenance experience and 3+ years in a leadership role.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must be available to work off-shift hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
