Key Project Requirements:
Prior maintenance management experience in a power plant setting, with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and control systems, including overseeing preventive maintenance programs and coordinating scheduled outages.
10+ years of supervisory experience, managing both employees and contractors, ensuring safety compliance, and driving efficiency in maintenance operations.
Strong project management capabilities, including long-term and short-term planning, budget preparation, and the ability to coordinate with various plant departments to minimize downtime and maximize plant performance.
Familiarity with NERC compliance, turbine monitoring, and inventory management, with experience using systems like Maximo for work order management and inventory control.
Job Summary:
PIC Group has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Manager for a 1245MW natural gas plant in Illinois. The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager, and will be responsible for all Maintenance at two individual assets. The Maintenance Manager will assist in long and short range planning, O&M Resource Planning, Capital Resource Planning, as well as project management to include contractor management, staffing, employee/team development, employee/labor relations, communication and community relations, and site/equipment demolition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs the plant's maintenance functions by scheduling, assigning, directing, and monitoring maintenance work activities to ensure that work is performed in a safe, timely, and productive manner.
Provides guidance to maintenance personnel for proper equipment repair procedures, while ensuring that safety procedures are being followed.
Ensures preventive maintenance programs are effective and meet the companies Boiler and Machinery Guidelines, evaluates and schedules maintenance work requests, coordinates manpower needs, work prioritization, parts procurement, and equipment for scheduled outages.
Performs short-range and long-range planning for planned outages by participating in plant planning meetings, formulating plans and programs to minimize equipment downtime and ensure timely, efficient and safe repairs. Leads team planned outage planning sessions with plant staff to coordinate staff and contracts for planned work. Reviews planned work with contractors to ensure the contractor is prepared to meet job safety requirements.
Coordinate maintenance work interfaces with other plant departments to accomplish repairs in a timely and safe manner.
Prepares and maintains various reports and records that are required to verify the completion of plant maintenance work and provide historical information for future maintenance planning.
Investigates and studies new ideas, methods and technology related to power plant maintenance. Recommends and implements improvements, which will maximize the efficiency of maintenance work and reduce future maintenance requirements.
Prepares, recommends, and monitors maintenance budget and assists in the planning capital budgets to ensure that adequate funds are available for annual mechanical, electrical, and control and instrument maintenance requirements. Responsible for developing an annual and 5-year budget plan.
Provides guidance and assistance to employees in the preparation of maintenance work requests.
Reviews Work Orders for completeness and accuracy and ensures that Work Orders are properly entered and closed out in the Maximo System.
Directs inventory management process to determine if equipment is needed to be kept in inventory and determines the appropriate amount of required inventory. Reports inventory compliance in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley.
Assists in the review of turbine monitoring parameters to ensure power generation equipment is being properly maintained and repaired.
Initiates the Management of Change Process when equipment is being replaced or superseded.
Works closely with the NERC Compliance Program, and lead to ensure testing and report compliance with all relevant NERC standards.
Participates in the duty manager rotation with other plant management to support the plant during non-regular staffed hours.
Job Requirements:
Ensures that both plants mechanical, electrical, controls and instrumentation equipment are maintained in a safe, reliable, and efficient operating condition.
The Maintenance Manager directs employees and contractors in the repair, maintenance, and improvement of plant mechanical, electrical, and control and instrument equipment.
Evaluate plant maintenance requirements and coordinate related work with other plant departments.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk, stand, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs
Must be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety boots, eye protection, and gloves.
Education / Experience:
High School diploma/GED required. Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to some of the skills listed
