The ideal Candidate hired will supervise and direct the operation of the maintenance shop, monitoring productivity and ensuring compliance with Agency rules and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, labor contracts and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school education or equivalent and/or Journeyman status as an all-around mechanic with four (4) or more years of recent, increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance of heavy-duty equipment of buses, including at least one (1) year of supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
ABILITY TO:
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be able to obtain a Class B with passenger endorsement within the six-month probationary period.

Candidates will be screened for relevant qualifying experience that consists of an evaluation of education and experience. The most competitively qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the selection process. The selection process may include a combination of written, performance, and oral examinations. - Assigns work, coordinating workers activities to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Schedules and coordinates vehicle maintenance with dispatchers to maximize service and vehicle availability.
- Assists in the diagnosis of mechanical failures, rebuilding, repairs or replacement of various vehicle components and systems.
- Prepares detailed cost estimates and recommendations regarding the feasibility of major repairs.
- Performs maintenance on Omnitrans vehicles, maintains vehicle maintenance files and databases.
- Coordinates and monitors the preventative maintenance program.
- Trains employees in safety, vehicle maintenance and equipment operation.
- Monitors the parts supply levels and orders new parts as necessary.
- Evaluates and assesses condition of facilities and initiates or recommends maintenance or repairs.
- Ensures Federal, State and local hazardous material laws are followed.
- Prepares a variety of reports and maintains records monitoring fleet maintenance and activity.
- Enforces and rates on a scale the safety performance including rules and regulations compliance and implements corrective action.
