Job Summary
The Manager of Ambulatory Services is a key leadership figure and integral member of the management team at Southlake Health. This individual is responsible and accountable for overseeing the operations, budgeting, coordination, and strategic direction of all patient care and staffing functions within the assigned Ambulatory Services areas.
All interdisciplinary team members within these clinical areas report directly to the Manager for matters related to patient care and staff concerns. The Manager provides a strong framework to support and enhance professional practice, leading the team in the integration of evidence-based practices aligned with a patient-centred care philosophy. Their leadership remains mindful of resource limitations while striving for excellence. Additionally, they serve as a role model for both professional standards and the organization's core competencies.
Primary Responsibilities
Patient Care Responsibilities
To plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based outcome-oriented changes in clinical practices and care delivery processes. These changes will evolve from the continuous improvement and work redesign initiatives and the restructuring of practice and services.
To advocate for the patient and resources for treatment teams.
To coordinate, implement and evaluate content and process of clinical and non-clinical as it relates to the Ambulatory Services clinics, particularly those outside of the main hospital campus.
To coordinate and support the introduction and maintenance of new technology, products, and procedures and evaluate as it relates to current policies and procedures for patient care.
Actively participate in resolution of complaints from patients, physicians, and staff.
Human Resource Management
To articulate clearly the performance expectations of all interdisciplinary staff assigned to the area.
Within the performance development model framework, to monitor, evaluate and deliver the evaluation of the staff's ability to meet the customers' needs both as individuals and as a team.
To recruit, interview, hire, and discipline staff and make recommendations for promotion, transfer and termination of staff members.
Ensure staff scheduling, payroll function, work assignments and attendance management are carried out.
Ensure new interdisciplinary staff are oriented to the program and organization.
Leadership Responsibilities/Administration
To have input into the development, management, analysis and oversight of the operational and capital udget.
To assist in the analysis and maintenance of statistical data to support budget requirement.
To lead and support the development, implementation and evaluation of patient care guidelines as it relates to the episodes of care within the clinical area.
Program planning, implementation and evaluation within Ambulatory Services
Education/Research
To develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based practice activities and educational information for clinical staff.
Participates, supports and conducts research related to clinical area.
Global Responsibilities
To participate in internal as well as external committees, as deemed appropriate by the director
Supports other leadership roles
Participates in on-call process for manager support throughput the organization.
Performs cross-functional duties, as assigned or requested.
Performs other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
Skills & Abilities
Minimum of five years recent and relevant experience in Ambulatory Services; ideally in Chronic Disease management.
Demonstrated excellence and is academically prepared and experienced in relevant clinical practice
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, communication, team building, facilitation and coaching skills that encourage positive interactions among all members of the health care team.
Demonstrated superior understanding of systems and system analysis techniques, value analysis, continuous improvement principles and tools
A strong customer and patient focus philosophy in all interactions.
Ability to introduce and effectively facilitate change.
Demonstrated critical thinking, decision making and organizational skills.
Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
Demonstrated ability to monitor attendance and work with staff who have attendance problems to set goals to effect positive change in their attendance at work.
Demonstrates proven ability to manage conflict resolution
Highly developed analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills
Experience in leading and/or participating in research-based studies.
Demonstrates clear understanding and application of RHPA.
Active participation and follow up to recommendations from committees.
Coordinate and facilitates task force formally to address current clinical issues and develop practice guidelines.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in health discipline, master's degree preferred
Registration with the appropriate College/Regulatory body
Minimum of 5 years' formal leadership experience
