The Manager - Commercial Operations will oversee the full lifecycle of construction projects-from planning and budgeting to execution and completion. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while managing teams, subcontractors, and client relationships effectively.

Core Accountabilities:
Project Planning & Management
- Develop and oversee project schedules, budgets, and timelines.
- Prepare cost estimates and manage project finances to ensure profitability.
- Interpret and explain contracts, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction specialists to align project goals.
- Select and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring seamless integration of aluminum and glass elements.
- Establish construction schedules, milestones, and performance benchmarks, tracking progress against established goals.
Estimation & Cost Analysis
- Review and confirm project specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
- Perform accurate material take-offs for commercial glass and aluminum systems, including curtain walls, storefronts, and glazing components.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment, ensuring competitive and profitable project pricing.
- Analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes to determine the best value and compliance with project requirements.
- Work closely with procurement teams to secure materials at optimal costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Continuously monitor job costing and adjust estimates to reflect actual expenditures and market conditions.
Construction Execution
- Oversee the installation of commercial aluminum and glass systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Manage and coordinate construction crews, subcontractors, and suppliers for smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress, proactively identifying and addressing potential delays or challenges.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and industry best practices on-site.
Client Communication & Relationship Management
- Maintain open and proactive communication with clients and key stakeholders.
- Address client concerns and resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.
- Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contracts as needed.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure all work meets industry standards for both aluminum and glass installations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and rectify quality issues.
- Stay updated with building codes, regulations, and safety requirements for both aluminum and glass construction.
Requirements:
Technical Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of commercial aluminum and glass systems, including curtain walls, storefronts, and glazing techniques.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and industry regulations.
- Familiarity with building codes, safety standards, and installation best practices for aluminum and glass structures.
Estimation & Financial Management
- Strong ability to perform accurate take-offs, labor calculations, and cost projections.
- Experience in estimating software and spreadsheet modeling for pricing structures.
- Knowledge of procurement and cost-control strategies to maintain project profitability.
Project & People Management
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in project management software and scheduling tools.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
Business & Financial Acumen
- Experience with project budgeting, cost control, and financial oversight.
- Ability to negotiate contracts and manage vendor and client relationships effectively.
Experience & Education
- Several years of experience in the commercial aluminum and glass construction industry, including supervisory or field management roles.
- Extensive industry experience may substitute for formal post-secondary education.
