Some of What you Will Do:
- Manage the preparation and analysis of financial reports ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure proper accounting for the Company's corporate level transactions, such as corporate allocations, accrual calculations, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Collect financial statements from locations and check their accuracy. Take ownership of the Company's Group Consolidations and accounting process and policy manual.
- Review and consolidate inter-company transactions and profit eliminations, corporate consolidations accounting, foreign exchange, consolidated general ledger, and consolidated trial balance.
- Prepare internal monthly and ad-hoc reports for management and shareholders, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and completeness.
- Support the Director of Accounting to establish SOX, ERM compliance.
- Work to reduce days to month end close and reporting.
- Identify and investigate discrepancies or variances in financial data, transactions, and balances. Conduct detailed analysis to determine the root cause of discrepancies and propose solutions.
- Work closely with internal teams including finance and operations to resolve reconciliation issues, ensure accurate data flow, and implement corrective actions to prevent future discrepancies.
- Prepare detailed reconciliation reports, highlighting variances and outstanding items. Maintain accurate documentation of reconciliation processes and procedures.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the entire corporate accounting team, finance, and business units.
- Oversee the utilization of financial consolidation software tools to improve automation and data integrity.
- Oversee the consolidated financial closings, special transactions, local currency and functional currency accounting processes, working closely with the Director of Finance on foreign exchange exposure and controls.
- Participate in the implementation of software applications/processes for both the business and accounting functions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
Some of What you Will Need:
- 10 years of proven experience in a financial consolidation and reporting role. Preferably with management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CA, CPA, or equivalent accounting certification required.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, including IFRS, US GAAP and foreign currency translation, and public company reporting (CSA and SEC).
- Proven experience in financial reconciliation or related accounting roles.
- Strong leadership with associate performance management experience.
- Proven efficiency in using software, financial systems and Excel.
- Proven ability to work with a high level of initiative and self-motivation in a fast-paced work environment with definitive timelines.
- Detail oriented with a strong analytic mindset and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to work cordially in a team environment.
