Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director, Corporate Accounting, the position is responsible for managing the accounting functions for existing business as well as facilitating the implementation of new business. The Corporate, Accounting Manager is responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of deliverables prepared by the Corporate Accounting associates and is responsible for the professional development of all direct reports.

Under the direction of the Director, Corporate Accounting, the position is responsible for managing the accounting functions for existing business as well as facilitating the implementation of new business. The Corporate, Accounting Manager is responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of deliverables prepared by the Corporate Accounting associates and is responsible for the professional development of all direct reports.
The principal accountabilities of this position consist of the following:
- Managing the daily operations of the accounting department.
- Ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of the monthly accounting close process.
- Establishing and enforcing proper accounting policies and processes.
- Managing the accounting internal control environment and ensuring controls are operating effectively and as designed.
- Managing the timely and accurate preparation of certain GAAP and statutory basis reports and disclosures
- Researching and documenting proper accounting treatment for new and/or complex transactions.
- Implementing new accounting standards
- Identifying process inefficiencies, recommending efficient process or system alternatives, and facilitating the implementation of process or system changes
- Facilitating employee training and professional development of all direct reports.
- Overseeing the implementation of new business as it relates to the accounting functions.
- Managing the external/internal audit request process as it relates to Accounting
- Performing other job related duties and projects as assigned.
Education/ Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree required (Accounting/Finance or related field).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- 3 years people management Experience.
- 5 years Progressive Accounting Experience.
- Experience leading month end close process required.
- Experience with preparation, review, and filing of financial reports with regulatory authorities, including 10Qs/10Ks, statutory quarterly and annual statements and supplemental filings with the NAIC, regulatory audit reports, benefit plan reports, and state reporting preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Public Accounting Experience is preferred.
- Experience with PeopleSoft, Hyperion, or similar ERP system preferred.
