Description
The Manager Cost Accounting manages the activities of the cost accounting function and oversees the gathering of historical cost data, investigation of cost structures, pricing of new services or products, and preparation of budget versus actual expense reports. The Manager Cost Accounting also ensures that costs are allocated according to established procedures, and designs and develops procedures and policies for the cost accounting systems. The Manager Cost Accounting selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Description
The Manager Cost Accounting manages the activities of the cost accounting function and oversees the gathering of historical cost data, investigation of cost structures, pricing of new services or products, and preparation of budget versus actual expense reports. The Manager Cost Accounting also ensures that costs are allocated according to established procedures, and designs and develops procedures and policies for the cost accounting systems. The Manager Cost Accounting selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead annual standard cost setting process at all sites for both manufactured and purchased products.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Operations team to develop quarterly forecasts and annual budget
- Support Integrated Business Plan process
- Analyze and reconcile COGS and inventory transactions for accuracy and completeness in support of monthly close reporting and prepare required supporting documentation.
- Calculate inventory reserves.
- Cost Accounting system implementation is a plus.
- Review work order variances with the product team.
- Assist Month End close, as required.
- Work with outside auditing firm during annual audit.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by management.
- Develop Executive level reporting mechanisms to explain monthly results vs budget.
- Identify levers to assist business teams in closing gaps to budget.
- Drive and support continuous improvement and change management efforts across the organization.
- Work with operational personnel on make/buy decisions, capacity constraints
Ensure compliance with accounting and financial reporting standards and regulations
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Education:
- B.S./B.A. in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution
Experience:
- 5+ years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Preferably Medical Device industry.
