Technical Training & Development is hiring a Manager, Curriculum Development. The Manager will lead a team of Curriculum Development Specialists that design curriculum for technical transit courses. The Manager will be responsible for workload, prioritization, and quality control of all assignments. The Manager will also manage contracts for large curriculum projects. The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects and staff while also having working knowledge of Metro's functions, strategic priorities, and internal stakeholders.

Job Summary
The Manager, Curriculum Development in Technical Training & Development is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of WMATA employees. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts, instructors, and stakeholders to ensure that the curriculum meets the highest standards of quality and relevance. The Manager will supervise a team of curriculum developers as they create training materials, manage the training schedule, and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in curriculum development, training program management, continuous improvement, and/or project management.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience of employees or contractors, including extensive quality review of written materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Certified Instructional Designer/Developer (CIDD)
- Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) or equivalent

Essential Functions
- Manages and support a team of curriculum developers and instructional designers. Conducts performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development for team members.
- Manages staff in the design, development, and updating of training programs and materials for various roles within WMATA, ensuring alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals.
- Manages projects of training initiatives by managing the training budget and resources, coordinating and scheduling training sessions, assigning tasks and distributing work appropriately, and tracking milestones and progress.
- Evaluates and approves training materials prepared by training personnel, ensuring they meet quality and relevance standards.
- Incorporates adult learning principles and best practices in instructional design, ensuring accessibility and engagement for all learners across educational manuals and materials.
- Develops training strategies and specific course objectives based on identified training needs/gaps, to achieve identified departmental and Metro-wide goals
- Identifies and implement improvements to courses (including lab-based, instructor-led, and online curricula) based on assessments, feedback, and performance metrics to enhance training outcomes
Other Functions
- Collaborates with community schools, colleges, trade schools, and other external training providers to align their technical and professional courses with Metro's workforce development needs
- Maintains and promotes awareness and accountability with safety policies and procedures while performing job functions. Promotes a positive safety culture and encourages reporting of safety concerns consistent with our Agency Safety Plan, other regulatory requirements within the Safety Management System and just culture principles.
