As Manager, Data Assets and Standards, you will be responsible for ensuring that data assets are visible, accessible, and usable for analytics and insights development to support key strategic plan initiatives such as personalization, and Enterprise Performance Transformation. You will coordinate and centrally manage the metadata associated with our organization's data assets, ensuring that comprehensive metadata is captured, classified, maintained, and appropriately leveraged. You will also oversee the creation and implementation of reference and master data and ensure that data is effectively captured and mastered against these standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data governance and data management, metadata management, reference data and master data management, and have a strategic mindset, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement the necessary governance frameworks across our data sets.

This role is based in Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, 1165 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario, reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Data Strategy And Governance. This role involves interactions with primarily internal stakeholders at various levels.

Key Activities/ What You'll Be Doing
  • Develop and implement comprehensive policies, standards, and procedures to ensure that all data assets, data flow, and transformations are visible, understood, and documented
  • Define standards for metadata, taxonomy and hierarchy development, classification, and business glossary
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data ownership, stewardship, and accountability to set controls for metadata, master, and reference data
  • Ensure data catalogue is kept up to date and reflects all available data assets, including metadata, lineage, and dependencies,
  • Oversee classification of data to meet legislation and security requirements
  • Collaborate with IT and Security teams to implement and maintain data security measures to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive data standards across the organization, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with business units, data owners, and data users to understand reference data requirements and categorize data to meet analytic needs
  • Provide support and guidance on the proper use and interpretation of reference data
  • Oversee MDM / RDM processes to ensure key data is appropriately mastered across systems
  • Ensure a comprehensive and up-to-date business glossary is maintained by data stewards, analytic leads, and key business stakeholders

  • Knowledge of industry leading data governance practices
  • Familiar with implementation and use various data governance tools and software
  • Familiar with DMBOK principles
  • Understand of complete data lifecycle and related data governance requirements
  • Understanding of GDPR and related legislation
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and transform large datasets to understand trends and patterns
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms. MS Azure preferred (Microsoft Synapse, Azure Data factory, Azure Data Lake, PowerBI)
  • Proficient in SQL or other programming languages
  • Experience with data visualization and dashboarding (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Expert in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)


Experience, Education and Professional Qualifications / What You Bring
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., data management, information technology, business analytics, data analytics informatics).
  • Proven experience in data governance, with a focus on metadata, reference data, and master data management
  • Strong understanding of data protection regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with informatica or similar data governance or data management technologies would be an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.


This role will be a Hybrid working model, which will require 3 days per week in the Four Seasons Corporate Office located at 1165 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario #LI-Hybrid
